      Summary of Job Duties:

      The Assistant Director of Environmental Dynamics (ENDY) is responsible for the day-to-day handling of the program, with duties that cover a broad range of administrative details. These duties include data management and processing; interfacing and communicating with others, especially students and faculty; promoting the program and student recruitment; financial data entry reporting and budgeting, listing graduate courses; scheduling, student management, compiling, and analyzing data for the ENDY Administrative Board; and report writing.

      The Assistant Director of Environmental Dynamics focuses specifically on:

      •ENDY Program Organization related to administering procedures, programs and services, supervising ENDY students, managing the ENDY archive, and managing ENDY databases. Coordinating and arranging dissertation defenses and committee meetings. Working on grant tracking, budget extensions, and managing student grants and funding. Occasionally hosting activities to promote the university to potential students and partners.

      •Student Services such as identifying and recruiting prospective students, finding and cultivating funding opportunities for students for research, fellowships, and assistantships. Organizing meetings, tours, airport arrival, transportation, and catering for special events. Preparing the ENDY budget, ENDY budget projections and budget justifications for the director. Being the main point of contact for students in difficult situations and assessing needs and appropriate services when necessary.

      •Faculty and Student Support such as providing assistance to students and faculty to coordinate specific assignments. Creating and organizing program data; design and prepare studies and reports for the program. Providing detailed information of applicant information for the Administrative Board with suggested ranking for admission. Monitoring student progress and assignments for colloquium.

      •Environmental Resiliency Program support such as: keep student records and budget information. Assist ENRE faculty with problem solutions as well as answer questions for applicants and students.

      This position infrequently requires evening and weekend work.

      Teamwork, flexibility and a positive attitude are essential for this position.

      Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


      Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

      • One or more years of full-time work in higher education

      • Experience using Microsoft office software and Adobe Suite


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field

      • 5 years of experience in the university system

      • Strong understanding of rules and procedures regarding graduate student movement through the university, general office management and financial systems, office efficiency procedures, and general business practices and development


      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      • Knowledge of program operations, policies, and procedures

      • Knowledge of student development and guidance principles

      • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations of the university, state, and federal government

      • Knowledge of computers, software applications, printing processes, including (Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite)

      • Knowledge of accounting principles

      • Advanced knowledge of GSIE rules to correctly guide ENDY students and keep students in compliance

      • Strong organizational and time management skills

      • Ability to resolve operational problems

      • Ability to conduct research and perform quantitative analysis for program reviews and reports

      • Ability to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reports to Director or the Administrative Board

      • Ability to adapt to irregular working schedule at high peak times during the year

      • Ability to work with students and faculty to find solutions to a vast array of problems that may arise

      • Ability to work with faculty and staff across various departments and colleges as required for a successful interdisciplinary program

      Salary Information:

      $42,000 - $45,000
