- Manage and direct two Facilities Maintenance Technicians at the SDRRN Migrant Shelter Services sites
- Coordinate and manage, in partnership with migrant shelter property management, maintenance and operations at the migrant shelter properties
- Serve as a conduit/liaison on all facility and building systems maintenance and operations related matters between the Director of Facilities & Operations and the Director of SDRRN Supportive Services
- Manage and direct the maintenance and upkeep of migrant shelter sites; such as scheduled maintenance and deferred maintenance
- Manage and direct storage needs, workstations, office moves, and daily/monthly/quarterly/annual cleaning duties
- Manage the overall building systems (Fire, HVAC, Building alarm, etc.) procedures as well as develop policies as appropriate
- In partnership with the Director of Safety & Security and Director of Facilities & Operations, implement physical security as needed and conduct security & safety drills
- Manage and direct/oversee the completion of special projects
- Enforce OSHA and safety compliance practices; Maintain sites in accordance with the relevant regulations and safety codes
- In partnership with the Director of Facilities & Operations, develop policies and procedures that ensure OSHA and safety compliance practices
- Manage facility related needs for all onsite events, and offsite events as requested/needed
- Oversee outside vendors who service the facilities
- Track, prioritize, and complete projects in a timely manner
- Facilitate and manage the scheduling of repairs and maintenance / pre-maintenance activities
- Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with the Director of Safety & Security, Director of Facilities & Operations, site property manager(s), and the Director of SDRRN Supportive Services
- In partnership with the Director of Security & Safety and Director of Facilities & Operations, assist with site emergency preparedness, risk management, IIPP safety training, employee access security, and physical site security
- Must have a valid CA driver's license, a clean driving record, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills (I.e., in-person, telephone, etc.)

Pay Range: $78,000 to $79,000/year

The Assistant Director of Facilities & Safety has the critical role in supporting the shelter operations for asylum seekers who have been released into the United States by the Department of Homeland Security. You will walk away from each day having invested in the lives of asylum-seekers while learning about border policies and their impact on vulnerable families and individuals from around the world.
The Assistant Director of Facilities & Safety is responsible for day-to-day facility and building systems maintenance and operations of the migrant shelter sites. The Assistant Director of Facilities & Safety has two direct reports and will serve as a liaison between the SDRRN Migrant Shelter Services sites and the agency’s Director of Facilities & Operations and the Director of San Diego Rapid Response Network (SDRRN) Supportive Services. This position will require a focus on operational excellence and interdepartmental collaboration.
