    • Collaborate with the Directors of Student Services to develop and implement special education programs that comply with state and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with Directors to develop and implement compliant special education programs.
    • Ensure programs meet diverse student needs, driving growth and achievement outcomes.
    • Provide leadership and supervision for special education staff, conducting regular evaluations for high-quality instruction and support.
    • Stay informed about federal and state laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with IEPs, Section 504 plans, and program-related regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records for students receiving special education services.
    • Coordinate professional development for staff, staying current with best practices and research in special education.

    • Conduct meetings, workshops, and outreach activities for positive relationships and communication.
    • Assist in developing and managing the special education budget, allocating resources effectively.
    • Analyze data on student outcomes and program effectiveness, preparing reports for stakeholders, administrators, and regulatory agencies.
    • Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities within the educational system and the community.
    • Establish and maintain professional relationships with special education professionals, organizations, and agencies to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
    • Bachelors degree in education, special education, psychology or other related field required
    • Masters degree in educational leadership in education, special education, psychology or other related field required
    • Doctoral degree in educational leadership or related field preferred.
    • Five years experience teaching special education required
    • Seven years experience in special education administration required
    • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and guidelines regarding special education and Section 504 of the American with Disabilities Act.
    • Technical experience required in the areas of student achievement outcomes, curriculum and instruction, evidence-based interventions, professional development, budget development and management, and inter-agency collaboration.
    • PDE Principal certification; or
    • PDE Superintendent Letter of Eligibility required
    • The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an anticipated opening for an Assistant Director of Student Services, Community Based Instruction & Adult Services in Downingtown, PA.

      Summary of Position:

      The Assistant Director of Student Services (ADSS), under the direction of the Director of Student Services, provides administrative leadership to special education, general education, and alternative education activities of the Chester Count Intermediate Unit (CCIU) throughout Chester County and Southeastern Pennsylvania for various programs and initiatives. The ADSS leads a large team of skilled and experienced administrators, educators, psychologists, therapists, support staff, administrative assistants, etc. in providing a range of services to students. The ADSS is leading and supporting the team in achieving strong student growth and achievement outcomes. The position requires extensive collaboration within the CCIU and with educational, governmental, and private agencies. This position provides administrative leadership for the following programs:

      • Community-based instruction programs
      • Adult services
      • County Cup locations
      • Non-public schools' program
      • Special education expertise and support to the CCIU Brandywine Virtual Program

      Essential Job Responsibilities:

      Qualifications:

      Education and Experience:

      • Bachelors degree in education, special education, psychology or other related field required
      • Masters degree in educational leadership in education, special education, psychology or other related field required

      Salary Range:

      Administrators, Level D, $135,831 - $169,788
