- Infrastructure Management: Assists in the oversight of the district's network infrastructure, including servers, network devices, wireless access points, and telecommunications systems. This includes monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system uptime.
- Systems Administration: Supports the administration and maintenance of critical district systems, such as student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), email systems, and other software applications.
- Help Desk Support: Oversees the help desk function, ensuring timely and effective technical support to staff and students. Monitors ticket resolution and identifies trends in technical issues.
- Project Management: Assists in the planning and execution of technology projects, including hardware and software deployments, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. This includes developing project plans, managing budgets, and coordinating resources.
- Technology Procurement: Participates in the evaluation and selection of technology hardware, software, and services. Assists in the development of RFPs and manages vendor relationships.
- Budget Management: Supports the Director of Technology in developing and managing the technology budget. Tracks expenditures and ensures cost-effectiveness.
- Policy Development: Contributes to the development and implementation of technology policies and procedures, including acceptable use policies, data security policies, and device management policies.
- Staff Supervision: Supervises assigned technology staff, including help desk technicians, network technicians, and other technology personnel. Provides guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Training and Professional Development: Provides training and professional development to staff on the use of technology tools and resources. Stays current on emerging technologies and trends in education technology.
- Compliance and Security: Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and laws related to data privacy and security (e.g., FERPA, CIPA). Implements security measures to protect district data and systems.
- Collaboration: Collaborates with other district departments, including curriculum and instruction, business services, and human resources, to ensure technology initiatives align with district goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Willingness to learn and be trained in different IT disciplines.
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technology role, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
- Experience with network administration, systems administration, and help desk support.
- Strong knowledge of various software applications, including SIS, LMS, and other educational technology tools.
- Experience with project management methodologies and budget management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., FERPA, CIPA).
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or other software applications is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between locations.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and services.
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator).
- Experience with grant writing and funding for technology initiatives.

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Technology plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Technology in leading and managing the Morgan County School Districts technology infrastructure, systems, and services. This position assists in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations across the district. The Assistant Director will also supervise assigned technology staff.
