    • Develops, monitors and implements policies and procedures to maintain security on the District Wide Area Network. Ensures that all technology processes conform to district, networking security and disaster recovery policies.

    • Provides leadership in the daily management of all domains within the District Wide Area Network, including but not limited to servers, workstations, routers, switches and other technology in use by the district.

    • Monitors Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless and virtual private network links for proper connectivity.

    • Coordinates hardware and software support as required to meet district administrative and instructional needs.

    • Supervises network staff and other technology team members as identified in the organizational chart and in collaboration with the Director of Technology.

    • Serves on the technology planning committee and other district committees as needed and represents the district at software application user meetings and other regional state or national forums so that the district needs are represented.

    • Oversees the maintenance of the district’s e-mail, web and filtering servers, and all associated software, including district data backup and anti-virus policies as well as any other additional server architecture that may be added in with future developments.

    • Provides leadership in the eRate process, work request tracking software and associated databases for inventory in collaboration with the Director of Technology and other core team members.

    • Recommends upgrades and assists with the design and implementation of new network infrastructure and facilities.

    • Maintains communication with outside vendors to solve district technology issues.

    • Provides assistance for budget preparations related to technology; makes recommendations for purchases of hardware/software programs.

    • Coordinates the installation, termination, and network tests related to cabling and district renovation projects.

    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

    • Maintains broad technical skills and an up to date knowledge of technology systems and solutions as they apply to administration and education.

    • Attend conferences and workshops as appropriate.

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology.

    • Network certifications preferred; Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA), AMP certifications preferred, GAFE

    • Five (5) years experience as a network administrator preferably in public education

    • Clear understanding of educational instructional and business functions

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    • Excellent communication skills - in both oral and written forms of English

    • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical information and knowledge of systems design and implementation

    • Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams

    • Ability to operate various office and technology equipment

    • Ability to manage multiple projects

    • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with district personnel and public including parents

    • Ability to supervise staff

    • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and take directions, exercise judgment and creativity, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadline

      Title: Assistant Director of Technology

      Reports To: Director of Technology

      Calendar: 12 months

      Summary: The Assistant Director of Technology oversees technical services and network security for computers and other forms of administrative and instructional technology; provides leadership in the security and management of the wired and wireless networks, LAN/WAN connectivity, and all infrastructure services. The Assistant Director of Technology assists in the development of the department budget and in developing and implementing technology refresh cycles.

      Essential Functions:
