Job Title: Assistant Director Outdoor Pursuit Salary/Grade: $40,000 - $45,000
Hours Per Week: 40
Job Summary: Assists the Director and Associate Director in the administration and management of all Outdoor Pursuit Center (OPC) programs and operations. This position serves to provide program area oversight with a focus on Climbing Center, Equipment Rentals and Youth Climbing Team.
Duties/Physical Demands: ● Manage the Climbing Center facility, equipment and operations which includes bouldering, top-roped, lead and auto belayed climbing.
● Manage all Climbing Center programs including Youth Climbing Team, climbing competitions, group rentals and special events.
● Administer the Equipment Rental Program including purchasing and maintaining equipment.
● Instruct 8 – 14 academic courses per year (rock climbing and outdoor leadership).
● Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 15 – 20 part-time student staff and administer weekly payroll.
● Collaborate with the Director on the research, development and leadership of domestic trips and study away/study abroad programs (15 - 40 days annually).
● Serve as Manager on Duty for the Rec Center during assigned weekly facility coverage shifts.
● Complete all other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications: ● Bachelor's degree
● Experience with oversight and management of indoor climbing walls
● Climbing Wall Instructor certification (or ability to be acquired within 30 days of hire)
● Wilderness First Responder certification (or ability to be acquired within 60 days of hire)
● American Red Cross CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer (or ability to be acquired within 60 days of hire)
● Valid driver's license and clean driving record
● Valid passport (or ability to be acquired)Desired Qualifications: ● Master’s degree in recreation or related field
● AMGA or PCIA Single Pitch Instructor or equivalent certification
