Bachelor’s degree
six years of related experience at a higher education institution

Ability to learn and integrate new programs and systems
Knowledge of and experience utilizing common types and methods of program evaluation to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, and sustainability of initiatives
Student program development and event planning with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and execute tasks with a high level of detail while maintaining efficient use of time
Knowledge of and interest in the intersection of co-curricular programs and professional skills development
Experience with student governance, organization advising, and relevant university protocols
Excellent information-seeking skills; ability to conduct independent research to solve problems
Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision
Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating a willingness to be collaborative and supportive
Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills facilitating effective relationships within an academic setting and the community at large; public speaking is required
Flexibility and commitment to periodically work long or irregular hours; travel to off-site locations
Ability and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of duties and the delivery of student services are non-negotiable
Experience in a law school (or other professional school) setting with an emphasis on coordinating programs to enhance student growth and professional development
Experience with student program development and event planning
Coordinates large-scale department events, including Student Orientation and Commencement
Advises student leaders of assigned organizations assisting in the execution of large-scale student-run events, including days of service, award banquets, galas, and fundraising initiatives
Coordinates a variety of department-sponsored programs, workshops, and activities promoting student professional development throughout the academic year
Budget preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation
Builds and cultivates relationships with the student body to foster engagement with the Law School generally and with departments which support students’ professional development, such as Career Services and Academic Support
Identifies and supports students who may need additional professional, academic, or other resources, and directs those students to such resources
Develops and implements programs, services, activities, and policies to ensure all students find a sense of belonging and connection to the Law School
Participates in developing department strategic plan and accompanying objectives and goals
Creates budgets for activities under the Assistant Director’s supervision while assisting the department head in drafting the annual department budget proposal
Provides leadership for department along with and in the absence of the department head
Maintains pertinent student records within areas of responsibility
Develops and administers assessment instruments to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of projects and initiatives
Collects, analyzes, and interprets data (quantitative and qualitative) to produce internal and external reports, inform decisions, and guide actions
Responds to requests for information, preparing data in the desired format
Provides verbal and written activity updates upon request
Serves on committees, work groups, and task forces as assigned
Maintains membership and engages in the activities of relevant professional organizations
Completes continuing education training to improve skills and stay abreast of industry standards

What we want
The Assistant Director, under general supervision, is a student-facing position responsible for assisting the department head in planning, directing, coordinating, and assessing student affairs programs and activities that support student engagement and development. Work includes establishing objectives, goals, policies, and procedures. The Assistant Director exercises sound judgment, integrity, and professionalism in making critical decisions within assigned areas of responsibility.
What you need to know
Salary: $75,000-78000 Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.
