      The Assistant Editor (AE) for the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is a full-time remote employment position reporting to the Associate Director of Editorial. The AE will support UAGC’s editorial and production teams in the developing and publishing of eTextbooks in a variety of college disciplines. The AE will coordinate and support third-party vendors while developing and honing editorial, project management, production, and communication skills.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Coordinate and track assigned textbook projects, monitoring and assessing schedule, budget, quality, and risks, as well as meeting with vendors as needed to gather information.
      • Report project status and information to team members and stakeholders, including the Associate Director of Editorial and faculty course developer.
      • Support editorial and production teams with administrative tasks, including coordinating payment requests, supporting digital asset management, and maintaining department resources, archives, and documentation.
      • For select projects, assist with editorial and production tasks to deepen knowledge of the UAGC publishing process. These tasks might include, but are not limited to:
        • Recruiting and managing review boards.
        • Assisting with permissions.
        • Conducting photo and/or video research.
        • Proofreading and reviewing files and edits.
        • Preparing and transmitting files.
        • Preparing audio scripts and checking audiobooks.
        • Implementing edits in Word, InDesign, HTML, or Storyline.
        • Working with ePub files and UAGC’s proprietary eReading platform.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelor’s degree is required.
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
      • Ability to take initiative and work effectively both with others and independently.
      • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • One year of experience in higher education content, publishing, editing, project management, or equivalent experience.
      • Experience with HTML, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, or Storyline.
      • Strong knowledge of online learning from an editorial and user experience point of view.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use computer. The employee may frequently interact with fellow employees and/or clients using video conferencing tools. The requirements of this job may be completed with or without reasonable accommodation.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT:

      While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to work in a remote work environment.

      RATE OF PAY:

      $47,356 - $59,195 annually DOE
