Provide practical and wide-ranging legal advice to firm leadership on all aspects of employment law.
Educate and advise the firm’s HR professionals regarding best practices for legally compliant talent management, including but not limited to leaves of absence and disability accommodations.
Investigate or manage investigations regarding employee concerns and complaints, make recommendations regarding appropriate remedial action, and coordinate with HR professionals to implement corrective action.
Engage with and manage outside counsel regarding employment claims.
Coordinate with HR professionals to review, revise and/or prepare separation agreements, corrective action, and performance reviews.
Coordinate with firm leadership, HR professionals, and the firm’s Engagement Team to identify and remediate potential areas of employment law risk.
Draft and/or revise employment policies in concert with the General Counsel, HR Professionals, and relevant stakeholders.
Advise the firm’s Engagement Team regarding employment law issues relating to diversity and inclusion programs.
Develop and provide training to partners and employees related to employment law issues.
Coordinate with Local Employment Counsel from firm offices where appropriate.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, and JD and bar membership required.
At least eight (8) years of experience practicing management-side employment law in a large, international law firm.
At least five (5) years of additional experience counseling organizations on employment-related issues, either in a law firm, as in-house counsel, or in an HR, investigations, or compliance role.
Significant experience providing advice and counsel on employment law issues.
Significant experience conducting neutral investigations related to harassment, discrimination, and other sensitive issues.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as client service skills.
Demonstrated maturity and judgment, with the ability to solve complex problems calmly and professionally.
Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, conducting oneself with integrity and maintaining strict discretion.
Proven ability to cultivate respect and gravitas within a dynamic environment of highly educated professionals.
The ability to be a team player, and to cultivate consensus among stake holders in a calm and respectful manner.
The ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands, and the ability to effectively manage crises and de-escalate stressful situations.
Strong executive functioning skills, with the ability to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
The ability to interpret and understand local employment laws, and to seek guidance from Local Employment Counsel as needed. The ability to learn new areas of employment law as needed.
The ability to work full-time in a regular and predictable manner, and to be available during non-business hours as needed.

For positions in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; & Silicon Valley, CA the salary range for this job posting is: $223,621.00 - $357.794.00.
For positions in Los Angeles, CA; Century City, CA; & Orange County, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $205,732.00 - $329,171.00.For positions in Seattle, WA the salary range for this job posting is: $214,676.00 - $343,482.00.
The base salary wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position will also include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans and policies then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in: a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, business travel accident insurance plans, and health savings and flexible spending accounts for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans and policies then in effect, eligible employees may utilize the Employee Assistance Program, Work/Life Services, HealthAdvocate, Bright Horizons Back-Up Child Care, and WageWorks Commuter Benefits for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Employees will also receive: 9 paid holidays per calendar year, 2 personal days per year, and up to 20 days of vacation per year. In accordance with state applicable law, eligible employees will earn 1 paid sick leave hour for 30 hours worked. Eligible employees may also take up to five days off for bereavement leave, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave per year and up to 10 weeks of paid pregnancy disability leave per pregnancy. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
