Job Description

- Update and/or coordinate the development of primary and secondary packaging graphics for existing products.
- Collaborate with graphic designers and outside vendors to complete preliminary work on product codes and gather information and files from vendors when necessary.
- Execute quality graphics within scheduled timeframes.
- Contribute fresh perspective and offer options for achieving a given objective, often within a tight time frame and limited budget.
- Maintain Rich's brand standards and meet legal and regulatory requirements on all projects.
- Facilitate packaging graphic design projects by working with internal cross-functional teams. Route project through workflow and obtain approvals from Regulatory, Marketing, Structural Packaging Engineers, Legal, and Customers. Execute PLM systems work in support of project goals and deadlines. Provide approved graphics for printing.
- Execute PLM systems work in support of project goals and deadlines
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with internal NWT and outside resources, including advertising agencies, photographers, and printers.
- Upload assets into Digital Asset Management System in a timely and accurate manner.
- Populate purchase order spreadsheet as part of PO invoicing process.
- Design and/or coordinate the development of primary and secondary packaging graphics for new products.
- Attend internal meetings related to projects.
- Design for retail packaging
- Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts degree (Major in Graphic Design)
- 3+ years working experience in graphics development
- Understanding of graphic design principles for print materials, including: typesetting, page layout, packaging graphic design, logo development, and printing processes.
- Proficient in working on Macintosh and PC platforms:
- Macintosh: Artwork Development Software: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign/ Acrobat)
- Virtual PC software: Parallels PC platforms:
- MS Office, Mainframe systems, Outlook, Internet Explorer
- Demonstrated design skills and experience in the following areas a plus: Familiarity with packaging guidelines & technical drawings (CAD) Labeling and bar coding standards
- Demonstrated creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Proven effectiveness in a team environment
- Familiarity with digital asset management
- Detail oriented
- Demonstrated ability in multi-tasking; working in a fast-paced environment where persistence and thorough follow-up is essential
- Solid project management skills (coordination, organization and prioritization).
- Proofreading and editing capabilities with the ability to maintain enthusiasm and a professional demeanor through multiple review sessions and redrafts.
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minor direction

PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Assistant Graphic Designer will provide support for graphic design projects and processes as part of Rich’s Packaging Graphics team. This also includes packaging/label graphics development/updates, label reviews, facilitation and compiling information with external print vendors and design agencies, and uploading digital assets in centralized repository.
