      An exciting opportunity exists for Assistant in Nursing to join the newly established Aged Care Awaiting Placement Ward based at Figtree Private Hospital.
      This is a Temporary Full Time/Part Time position until 8 September 2024 with the possibility of an extension subject to funding

      Where you'll be working

      The Illawarra Shoalhaven local health district (ISLHD) is opening a 20 bed Aged Care Awaiting Placement (CAP) unit within Figtree Private Hospital. Figtree Private Hospital is located in Suttor place, Figtree and will provide healthcare to elderly patients currently within our acute ISLHD hospitals whom are ACAT approved awaiting placement of Residential aged care facility (RACF), Illawarra transitional aged care service (ITACS), Community packages (COMPACS), Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or Veterans Home Care (VHC).

      The patients are managed by a geriatrician and staffed by a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals who work together to provide comprehensive and collaborative care to patients.

      We are looking for a dynamic team of nursing staff who have exception communication skills, are compassionate, caring and want to play a crucial role in providing high quality care to our ageing population.

      The unit will function under a team nursing model of care, where nursing staff work together within small groups to provide comprehensive care to a small patient group. Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, to ensure that the provision of holistic care meets the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of the patients. Some of the wards daily goals of care include improving patients general functioning in relation to incontinence, reduced mobility and cognitive impairment.

      All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).       1. Holds certificate CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) OR another qualification deemed appropriate.
