      Description

      Position: Assistant Leader– SACC Program

      Reports to: Group Leader and Site Coordinator

      Status: After School hours: 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. Vacation and Summer Schedule is extended.

      Responsibilities:

      • Assists Group Leader in carrying out his/her responsibilities in a group setting of up to 13 school age children grades K1 – 5th, providing for their physical and emotional safety and well being at all times;
      • Work with the Group Leader and other program staff to plan and implement a well-rounded fun curriculum for the site, including teaching a literacy, math & health curriculum, supervising & tutoring homework.
      • Support specialists in music, art, dance, and chess
      • Assist in the planning and implementation of other daily group activities as needed showing initiative and creativity, including vacation weeks and holiday program days.
      • Help monitor, document, and file group attendance each day;
      • Help monitor, support and document homework each day;
      • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as requested and as required;
      • Make daily contact with parents when they pick up their children to share accomplishments of the children and advise of upcoming events;
      • Work in a team effort with the Group Leader, Site Coordinator, program staff, and other BSCC staff;
      • Other duties as assigned

      Qualifications


      Qualifications:

      1. Must meet one of the following:
      • Be at least 16 years of age, work under the direct supervision of a group leader and Have a High School diploma or equivalent or be enrolled in a high school program or equivalent.
      • Be 18 years or older and work under the general supervision of a group leader.

      1. Must be dependable and trust-worthy,
      2. Must be compassionate and sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and coworkers;
      3. Bi-lingual in Spanish or Cape Verdean Creole is a plus.
