      Your opportunity:

      Under the general direction of the Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and through close communication and collaboration with managers across the Faculty, the Assistant Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for consulting on and assisting in the development and implementation of diverse and comprehensive physical activity and sport programs and events, as well as equity initiatives and procedures, with an educational and participant-centered framework and an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, lens.

      Your responsibilities will include:

      • Assist in developing and implementing programs and services that support the unit’s objectives in creating programs and events that serve a student population over many axes of difference
      • Ensure effective and efficient systems and procedures are in place to manage equity issues, including regular liaison with Co-Curricular and academic faculty, staff, and on and off campus partners and stakeholders
      • Consult on and assist in planning and implement components of curricular or co-curricular programs and activities
      • Champion the development and delivery of comprehensive education and awareness programs within the Curricular and Co- Curricular Program area on systems of power and oppression, disabling structures, anti-racism, pathways towards reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility issues
      • Monitor financial information relating to programs and partnerships, including budgeting and grants
      • Responsible for theensuring consistent and excellent delivery of client services using best practices and with established procedures
      • Report program effectiveness and success based on established learning outcomes and goals

      Essential Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education, Health Education, Sports Administration, Sociology of Sport, Equity Studies, Indigenous Studies, Diaspora Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Gender and Sexual Diversity Studies, or Physical Cultural Studies or equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience
      • Minimum four years experience in planning, implementing, promoting, and delivering, movement, physical activity and sports programs and events
      • Between two to four years of demonstrated experience developing and implementing programs, specifically for equity-seeking populations, and the promotion of awareness of equity, diversity, anti-racism, and accessibility issues
      • Demonstrated experience in the development of sustainable partnerships with internal and external community partners and a broad range of stakeholders
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills
      • Strong computer competencies with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
      • Strong organizational and time management skills
      • Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion
      • Strong interpersonal skills
      • Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills


      Assets (Nonessential):

      • Experience with facility booking software, including the ability to input and generate reports using the Faculty’s program registration system (Fusion), an asset
      • Experience working with instructors and coaches is an asset
      • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies for evaluation an asse
      • Understanding of adult learning styles and educational theory around learning outcomes an asset

      Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

      USW Pay Band 13 -- $86,340 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $110,415. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
