Job summary
Are you keen and enthusiastic, can you be relied upon to support clinical staff working in a front line patient environment? - Then you may be who we are looking for to fill a vacancy arising in our Equipment Library team.
The Equipment Loan Service provides a central library of equipment for the hospitals and community that CVUHB covers.
A cheerful disposition and good interpersonal skills are essential as direct contact with clients, customers and suppliers is expected. You should have a good basic education to NVQ level 3, with some computer skills. Current technical knowledge is not essential, but you must be willing and have the aptitude to undertake any necessary training provided.
The library team are expected to be able to work at either UHW or UHL libraries as the need arises. Although this role is being advertised as full time we are open to applications from candidates who can only work part time.
Main duties of the job
This Library Officer will be expected to visit clinical areas in the hospitals to deliver and collect loan equipment. They will clean and test all equipment between loan episodes. They will use systems and follow procedures to ensure equipment is tracked and maintained.
The Library Officer will work closely with the other members of the Medical Equipment Management team to enable the Electricity at Work Regulations to be met.
Library officers have a key role in the UHB's Nebulisers loan service. They are required to meet and interact with patients, explaining Nebuliser use and cleaning methods.
The library team will help locate, collect and return other non-library equipment in the clinical area.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
