- Supports management of the entire building staff.
- Works with Principal to assign teachers to classrooms and students to classes.
- Evaluate the performance and effectiveness of programs and staff.
- Maintain relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and outside agencies.
- Participate in district-wide activities, in-services and committees.
- Implement policy and procedure changes from the Board, or the state/federal level at the building level.
- Support School Improvement planning.
- Works with building principal on budgeting/purchasing for building.
- Serves as administrative head of school in the absence of the principal.
- Administers a program of student discipline and student attendance.
- Assists with staff evaluation.
- Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers.
- Assists scheduling special events during the school day.
- Provides general supervision to students
- Prior experience as a teacher
- Approachable, collaborative and good communicator
- Honest and ethical with high Integrity
- Understand leadership may depend on a range of situational factors
- Visible and accessible to stakeholders
- Experience supporting student behavior management strategies

Beginning: August 2025
Summary : The Middle School Assistant Principal will be responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program. Ensures a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary and enforces school policy. Provides instructional leadership to staff including curriculum planning, review and implementation. Responsible for day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of both students, staff and activities.

KEY ATTRIBUTES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages employees in the middle school. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Master's degree, five years teaching experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
Valid Michigan School Administrator certificate.
