- Contribute to delivery of Cabinet, Parliamentary and Ministerial outcomes and ensure delivery of high-quality coordination, analysis and advice.
- Provide corporate support in the development and delivery of broader policy or project initiatives.
- Help train departmental staff in understanding relevant context and processes.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames
- Proven experience liaising and consulting with internal and external stakeholders
- Highly tuned review and analysis skills to develop and implement practical solutions to complex matters
- High attention to detail, well-developed organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure, high-volume environment with tight deadlines to manage rapidly changing priorities and conflicting perspectives

Assistant Policy Officer, Ongoing role, potentially multiple roles available. A talent pool will be created for future temporary and ongoing roles with us.
The Office of the Secretary in the Department of Customer Service is looking for an Assistant Policy Officer to join our team! There is potential for multiple roles across three streams in the Cabinet and Parliamentary Services team. Those three streams are:
Cabinet Stream
Provides advice and Cabinet-related support services to the Secretary and Ministers on all Cabinet and subcommittee submissions & supports stakeholders to ensure DCS submissions are timely, of high quality, and align with DCS and Government priorities.
Parliamentary Stream
Provides advice and Parliamentary related support services to the Secretary and Ministers on Parliamentary matters & coordinates input and key deliverables from all areas of DCS to ensure timely delivery against critical Parliamentary timeframes.
Strategic Support and Surge Stream
Provides solutions on CPS related advice, engagement, communications, and reporting to support the Cabinet and Parliamentary Services objectives & provides surge capacity to cover workload across CPS.
