    • Assist the school principal with the overall administration of the instructional program at the campus level and coordinate assigned student activities and services.

    • Provide leadership in the identification, evaluation, and selection of instructional programs, resources, and equipment for increased student achievement.

    • Facilitate improved student performance through the professional growth of teachers and staff as measured by coursework and assessment data.

    • Meet regularly with academic department heads and assistant principals to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum.

    • Plan and coordinate tutorials, interventions, additional support and resources, and other instructional programs for students in need of assistance.

    • Facilitate and assist with the development of an effective campus improvement plan based on student needs.

    • Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that the findings are used to make instructional programs and services more effective.

    • May act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.

    • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.

    • Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

    • Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.

    • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods.

    • Oversee campus operations in the principal’s absence.

    • Assume leadership for planning and scheduling of daily school activities including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.

    • Oversee reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with staff to identify and address issues.

    • Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.

      Primary Purpose:

      Responsible for overseeing the academic program, under the direction of the campus principal, ensure sound implementation of curriculum and staff development to improve student achievement.

      Implement state and federally mandated student assessment programs for the district. Ensure security and integrity of testing materials and data in accordance with state and federal requirements.

      Develop and train instructional staff to effectively incorporate the use of technology into instructional programs and curriculum.

      Qualifications:

      Education/Certification:

      Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

      Master’s degree from accredited university

      Valid Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate

      Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

      Knowledge of campus operations

      Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

      Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

      Ability to manage budget and personnel

      Ability to implement policy and procedures

      Ability to interpret data

      Working knowledge in Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Resource System

      Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

      Experience:

      Three years experience as a classroom teacher

      Major Responsibilities and Duties:

      Testing

      23. Implement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments. Direct and oversee test implementation and monitor testing activities to ensure that procedures are followed and deadlines met.

      24. Provide timely support for testing administrators.

      25. Consult with staff to provide appropriate testing accommodation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students and students receiving special services.

      26. Identify, investigate, and address testing irregularities. Report discrepancies and disciplinary actions taken against students as required.

      Analysis and Collaboration

      27. Develop and distribute statistical studies, analysis, and evaluation reports as required.

      28. Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals and objectives.

      29. Consult with district staff to develop, administer, and interpret assessment guidelines and procedures.

      Recordkeeping, Reporting, and Inventory

      30. Maintain and ensure the integrity of testing data. Ensure all materials and data are submitted within established timelines.

      31. Complete evaluation and compliance reports as required by federal and state programs.

      32. Track and monitor the location of test materials throughout the distribution, return, and storage process.

      33. Compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records, and other required documents.

      Other

      34. Contribute to the development and delivery of training for district and campus test administrators to ensure that tests are conducted and procedures are consistently followed.

      Personnel Management

      35. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser as needed for designated teacher appraisal system.

      36. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.

      School/Community Relations

      37. Articulate the school’s mission to community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.

      38. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

      39. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, and others as assigned.
