JOB DESCRIPTION REPORTS TO: Head of Service, Pupil Emotional Health & Wellbeing RESPONSIBLE FOR: Supporting the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing Head of Service to facilitate the continuous improvement and development of an effective and efficient service. JOB PURPOSE: The Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service is comprised of the HOPE School Counselling and Therapy Service, the Being Well Doing Well Service and EA Critical Incident Support Service. The Holistic Options for Promoting REsilience (HOPE), Independent School Counselling and Therapy Service is available to all post primary aged pupils attending grant-aided post primary schools, EOTAS provisions and special schools. The Education Authority (EA) is responsible for ensuring that the HOPE providers comply with the contract requirements and the service meets the specified standards. It is also responsible for the operational management and ongoing development of the HOPE service. Working as part of a team the Information, Planning and Research Officer will play a pivotal role, alongside the Head of Service, to manage new developments and change with the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Management and Implementation of Research and Development Resources - Assist in the development of a Management Information Systems that will contribute to planning, reporting and evaluation of outcomes; - Assist in the coordination of agreed research on Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing related issues and activity; - Use ICT effectively in the dissemination of information and planning data to produce reports as required; - Assist in the establishment, maintenance, management, and review of effective data systems to enable the robust analysis of current provision and projected need; - Provide needs-related information on distinct geographical areas; - Assist in gathering from a variety of sources relevant data on the needs of children & young people to assist service planning; - Compilation and maintenance of specific databases and directories on EA HOPE practice and provision; - Assist in the development and delivery of appropriate training programmes for the EA HOPE service staff; - Ensure effective development and administration of data management systems to improve performance and reporting; - Assist in the development of staff guidance on best practice in relation to the use and storage of data. - Contribute to the arrangements for monitoring, evaluating and reporting for the purpose of planning and data management. Management and Staff Development - Supervise staff and administrative procedures as required; - Manage a team to perform to their potential; promote their development and give support when required; - Assist in the facilitation of the induction of new staff and ongoing professional development of staff in relation to the core objectives, expected outputs and outcomes in relation to the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing service area. Partnerships - Develop links and partnerships with external agencies, including partnerships to explore opportunities for information sharing in relation to specific internal and independent research projects; - Assist in responding to external queries and correspondence on relevant issues; - Develop links with other EA services/officers in relation to the co-ordination of work related to the area. Developing Strategy, Policy and Guidance - Proactively contribute to the improvement of EA HOPE within the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service processes, procedures and systems and delivering training as required; - Assist in the development and management of policy, procedures and processes in relation to EA HOPE and the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service; - Contribute to the development and maintenance of the EA HOPE service. Other Duties - Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the position as directed by the Head of Service; - Carry out the duties of any other staff member when they are absent or as directed by the Head of Service; This job description will be subject to review in light of changing circumstances and is not intended to be rigid and inflexible but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which the individual works.
