- Build capacity of educators to provide all students a rigorous curriculum, aligned with Tennessee-adopted standards
- Collaborate with educators to analyze and use multiple forms of data to establish specific goals and strategies targeting student achievement and growth
- Lead educators to develop and execute interventions to address all students learning needs grounded in multiple sources of data
- Systematically monitor and adjust progress toward established goals and facilitate procedures and practices leading to continuous school improvement
- Leverage educator strengths to engage all students in meaningful, relevant learning opportunities
- Foster and enforce expectations for a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment for all
- Take measures to actively involve families in the education and discipline of their children
- Model and communicate expectations for individual and shared ownership of student, educator, and school success
- Assist with the recognition, organization, celebration of improvement in educator and student performance related to the school’s vision and goals
- Participate in the Teacher Evaluation System
- Engage faculty and self in data-informed, differentiated professional learning opportunities aligned with the Tennessee Standards of Professional Learning
- Collaborate with others to induct, support, retain, and grow/extend effective educators based on evidence of student and educator performance and outcomes
- Identify and support potential teacher-leaders and provide growth opportunities in alignment with the Tennessee Teacher Leadership Standards
- Strategically utilize community resources and partners to support the school’s mission, vision, and goals
- Assist with the management of a diverse set of educators and stakeholders in school improvement decisions
- Assist with the establishment, communication, and enforcement of a set of standard operating procedures and routines aligned with district, state, and federal policy and perform all budgetary responsibilities with accuracy, transparency, and in the best interest of students, faculty/staff
- Assist the principal with the development and maintenance of an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the School and District; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff; maintaining records and files; preparing reports
- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school; interpret and enforce school and district policies and regulations
- Assist the principal in the maintenance of the school culture as a results-oriented collaborative professional learning community
- Support the principal in the collaborative development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the school’s e-Plan for continuous improvement aligned with the district e-Plan and accreditation
- Assist the principal in monitoring compliance with federal, state, and district mandates and guidelines related to local and state testing program, the special education program, and the response to intervention program (RTI)
- Assist the principal in planning and implementing an educator professional development program
- Serve as principal during the absence of the school principal
- Create and communicate daily bell schedules and extracurricular activities.
- Work with grade level leads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests
- Requisition supplies and equipment, conduct inventories, maintain records, and check on receipts for such material
- Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support services; conduct safety inspections and safety drill practice activities, and crisis management plans
- Build and maintain relationships with law enforcement, fire department, and supportive community agencies
- Maintain, use, and facilitate the use of the school security camera system and the archiving of video of footage as necessary
- Evaluate school facility needs and maintenance in collaboration with the district facilities director and state inspectors
- Manage the reporting, monitoring of student attendance, implementation of truancy proceedings
- Maintain student discipline and resolve special cases
- Serve with parents, faculty, and student groups, as requested, in advancing educational and related activities and objectives
- Maintain a variety of files; prepare periodic and special reports
- Identify the special needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of school system specialists
- Assist with the supervision of faculty and staff, and departments
- Explain and interpret instructional goals and objectives to school stakeholders
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Tiger Teacher Evaluation System of supervising the instructional program using walkthroughs, observations, documentations, and pre and post conferences
- Assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans, professional growth plans, and classroom management techniques
- Assist in the coordination of school counseling and technology 1:1 blended learning services.
- Maintain and model high standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity

- Computer competency in a wide range of functions including learning management systems, websites, educational software and applications, Microsoft.
- Experience working with laptops, iPads, and mobile devices.

Position: Assistant Principal
Contract: full-time with benefits, 235 days
Personal Leave: 2 days/year
Sick Leave: 1 day for each full month employed

The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting with the leadership, coordination, supervision, and management of the education program and school operation.
