- Develop and teach various undergraduate and graduate mathematics education and field-based education courses for a secondary teacher preparation program;
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses via on campus and/or a variety of distance delivery modes;
- Travel statewide to supervise teacher candidates in field-based courses;
- Participate in collaborative relationships with mentor teachers, school administrators, and staff;
- Maintain active program of research/scholarly activity and publications in mathematics education;
- Contribute to recruitment & admissions, program development, oversight, assessment and accreditation activities;
- Provide service to the department, college, university, public schools, and professional community;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctorate in mathematics education or closely related field from an accredited institution; will consider ABD if completed by date of hire.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level;
- Minimum of three years full-time secondary (7th - 12th) teaching, as a teacher of record, in mathematics;
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations; and
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.
- Evidence of emerging scholarly productivity (e.g., research publications, grants, extramural funding) related to mathematics education;
- Experience supervising teacher candidates in field-based secondary (7th - 12th) teacher preparation programs;
- Experience with teaching distance learning/online courses;
- Evidence of effective teaching secondary (7th-12th) and/or post-secondary students from culturally, linguistically, geographically, and economically diverse backgrounds, including Native Hawaiian, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, and/or Filipino students;
- Knowledge, experience and research agenda that can contribute to fostering the uniqueness of the University as a Native Hawaiian place of learning.
