      The Director of Choral Activities oversees all aspects of the large vocal ensembles and serves as the leader of all vocal performance and teaching in the department along with the vocal area coordinator, working collaboratively with other faculty to create a vision and plan for the vocal area. In addition, the Director of Choral Activities will be responsible for teaching related music courses which may include, but not be limited to, applied voice, applied conducting, aural skills, theory, and other classes in the music curriculum for which he/she is qualified. The Director of Choral Activities must be a musical leader who has the ability to inspire learning in students through outstanding musical and educational experiences. The Director of Choral Activities is expected to teach and mentor all students in the department, while focusing on creating positive experiences and opportunities for the vocal students. Additionally, recruiting high quality students to the music program in general, and the vocal program specifically, is a high priority for the Director of Choral Activities.
      The Director of Choral Activities is an important part of the music faculty and is expected to work as a positive team member who is willing to advance the goals of the department and to work with all students to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. This professional is expected to produce creative works such as musical performances, articles, original research, or other similar activities. The Director of Choral Activities is also expected to serve on University committees and provide service to the University, the surrounding community, the state, and/or the nation.
