Job Summary
Assistant Professor of Music Full-time tenure-track position to begin August 2023. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Exceptional benefits package. Applied studio teaching and coordination of vocal area. Teaching experience and demonstrated commitment to teaching required. Orchestra director and applied studio teaching on violin. Other duties determined by experience and strengths of successful candidate may include composition, orchestration, conducting, chamber music, or opera production. Recruit and maintain a vibrant and visible violin studio. Develop regional and national visibility through performances or research. Participate in performance with faculty colleagues as appropriate. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees. Other duties assigned by the Director of the School of Music. Teaching equivalent of 9 credit hours per semester with 3 credit hours released time for research/creative endeavor.
Qualifications
Completed doctoral degree in conducting. Teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to teaching required.

Purdue University Fort Wayne is a comprehensive, metropolitan university that enrolls approximately 10,000 students. The College of Visual and Performing Arts, headed by a dean, consists of the Department of Art and Design, Department of Theatre and School of Music. The School of Music is staffed by 23 full-time and 45 part-time faculty members. It enrolls 300 students in curricula leading to the Bachelor of Music Education , Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music in Music Technology, Bachelor of Science in Music and an Outside Field, Bachelor of Science in Music Industry, Bachelor of Science in Popular Music, Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy, and Master of Music Therapy degrees. The School of Music is housed in the beautiful Rhinehart Music Center featuring state of the art performance and rehearsal facilities and also in the Sweetwater Music Center on the campus of this music industry leader. Faculty members enjoy collaborative relationships with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Fort Wayne Community Band, and Voices of Unity, community partners in residence. The university and its music degrees have been fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and the American Music Therapy Association.
