      Req#: R7127

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

At Scottish Water, our purpose is to support a flourishing Scotland by looking after Scotland's most precious natural resource, from source to tap. We keep Scotland supplied with world class water, as well as care for our environment every minute of every day. It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here.

The teams across Scotland strive to ensure high standards are met and we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our Investment Delivery West Regional Hub Team in our Glasgow, Stepps, office.

The role within our Regional Hubs involves working on a variety of different project types on new and existing assets, to ensure they are remediated to meet the relevant Scottish Water standards and specifications. The role covers all stages of the project lifecycle, working collaboratively with internal and external team members to ensure successful project delivery at a high level of performance.

      What you’ll do

You will assist the Project Managers in the delivery of a portfolio of Civil, M&E and Infrastructure projects, covering all stages of the project lifecycle. Supporting the Project Managers in the co-ordination, and successful delivery of a number of projects to achieve outcomes and realise benefits.

You’ll therefore have a primary responsibility for setting-up, co-ordinating and supporting predominantly wastewater projects being delivered by the DV2 Investment Delivery Team in the West Regional Hub.

You’ll be motivated to create trusted relationships with key stakeholders in a Regional Hub: the client (Strategic Customer Service Planning), the operator (Customer Services Delivery), Third Parties through SSD (Specialist Service Delivery), the customer and our delivery partners.

Act as the interface between Scottish Water teams and delivery partners co-ordinating activities.

      What you’ll bring

Being able to plan & co-ordinate delivery whilst also supporting Project Managers & associated administration.

You’ll bring excellent knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and co-ordinating programmes and projects.

An understanding of both statutory H&S regulations and the application of Engineering Forms of contract would be invaluable. However, we are able to provide training and development in these areas. A general understanding of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and email correspondence systems would be beneficial.

A strong communicator who has proven ability to work with stakeholders and has experience of customer engagement.

Knowledge of the project delivery methods & project lifecycle from development scope through to construction, completion.

Good influencing and collaboration skills and ability to build excellent relationships within and out with the Directorate.

Strong co-ordination skills with demonstrable communications skills, able to cope with problems that arise, deal in facts and to maintain the confidence of our customers, partners and project teams.

      What you’ll get

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This role has some weekend working and standby requirements. But you’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping

      The not-so-small print

The salary range for this role is £31,380.00 - £43,350.00 GBP Annual depending on skills and experience.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on the 3rd of November 2023 (updated closing date).

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.

A few final things worth knowing…

Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out!

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
