      The Assistant Project Manager (APM) position exists to support the project team and Partners in achieving Deloitte’s objectives of delivering successful projects, from inception through construction delivery within the agreed timeframes and budget.
      At Deloitte, there is also opportunity for APMs to be involved in development management, focusing on the front- end activities pre-construction, depending on the nature and scale of the development and resourcing requirements.

      About the team

      The Infrastructure & Project Solutions team are focused on advising on some of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects and programs, as well as complex government services contracts. Our work spans the infrastructure lifecycle from policy and strategy development, to preparation of compelling, complex business cases through to designing and managing procurement processes to close transactions. We work across a range of sectors including transport, social infrastructure such as education, sports & recreation, as well as power and utilities infrastructure and precincts & urban renewal.

      About the role

      As an Analyst or Senior Analyst level practioner, you will:

      • Work to the Project Leader’s master program as a tool for the project management team to monitor, control and report on compliance by all parties with programs as approved by the client

      • Prepare and issue regular project reports to project teams, with assistance from Project Leader where required

      • Assist Project Leader to report all program performance, progress in terms of time, cost and quality

      • Document the management system in a project procedures manual

      • Upon completion of a project, assist the Project Leader to oversee commissioning, practical completion, defects list, end of project report

      • Assist Project Leader and project team to work with client to establish a design brief and develop a design program to meet requirements

      • Under guidance of Project Leader, coordinate with consultants to analyse design as it evolves against buildability and budget requirements

      • Contribute to ongoing value management of the design to maximize the value to the client

      • Assist in the design and coordination of the delivery of mock-up rooms and display suites if required

      • Coordinate the activities of all consultants and manage performance and oversee quality inspections, escalating to Project Manager and Project Leader if required

      • Provide assistance to clients and their specialist consultants employed directly including auditors, legal advisors, PR consultants, sales agents and managing agents

      • Along with Project Leader and Project Manager, represent the client in meetings that require coordination of works including meetings with consultants, construction manager/builder, sub-contractors and suppliers

      • Ensure effective communication is maintained with the design team, the authorities and the builder

      • With the assistance of the Project Manager and the consultants, establish required approvals, monitor and ensure all approvals are obtained

      • Negotiate with authorities to ensure compliance, escalating to Project Manager and Project Leader if required

      • Work within accounting procedures and costs controls to cover all stages of the project

      • Identify and escalate any risks, analyse and respond to any issue that may arise in relation to meeting budget

      • Throughout all phases, work to forecasts and budgets; monitor, analyse and forecast cash flows, action and settle accounts and rigorously enforce cost management procedures

      • Work to established procedures regarding the issue of variations and their costing feedback into the overall cost budget position and produce cost to completion information as requested by Project Manager

      • Assist Project Manager to develop the delivery strategy into the invitation to tender, and assist through tender process to a recommendation to the Project Leader as to the preferred contractor

      • Assist Project Manager to administer the agreement between the contractor and principal in conjunction with the Project Leader

      • After client approval is reached, assist Project Manager to finalise all contracts

      About your Experience

      To succeed in this role you will need to have:

      • Demonstrated behaviour that is aligned with Deloitte values
      • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. property, valuation, real estate, project management, construction and or other property discipline)
      • Practical industry experience in the property industry highly regarded
      • Demonstrated interest in property and development issues
      • Demonstrated knowledge of the property delivery process including an understanding of project management controls
      • Demonstrated knowledge of the property development process, including project design, authority liaison, town planning, project marketing, project financing, project construction and delivery, and the contractual and settlement process
      • Understanding of preparation and management of and working to high level project programmes, with fundamental project management skills
      • Advanced computer skills (particularly Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Project)
      • High level of interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
      • Confident of own opinion and prepared to back their own judgment, being prepared to argue their position in an appropriate forum
      • Open to constructive feedback
      • Experience in dealing with strong characters with a sense of purpose
