      Position Highlights We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Track Assistant Professor with a special focus on Digital Epidemiology and Public Health. The successful candidate will be tasked with conducting cutting-edge research, developing innovative solutions, leading projects in the rapidly evolving field of digital public health including participatory surveillance, and serving as an expert in the field both internally within the University and with external partners. The role requires a highly motivated individual who can blend academic rigor with practical, hands-on experience in both the social entrepreneurship space and the public sector.

      Duties & Responsibilities
      • Conduct research in digital epidemiology, including digital disease detection, crowdsourcing, participatory surveillance, digital contact tracing, and public health intelligence.
      • Work on data governance, developing and implementing data stewardship and data governance frameworks.
      • Employ machine learning and AI modeling techniques, including but not limited to Random Forest, XGBoost, and time-series forecasting models.
      • Conduct spatial modelling and GIS, including geospatial analysis.
      • Lead omni-channel surveys for disease surveillance, including web-based systems, text message surveys, and Interactive Voice Response.
      • Engage in the development of digital biomarkers using wearable sensor data.
      • Contribute to the digital transformation in health, integrating the 4P (Predictive, Preventive, Personalized, Participatory) and 6Ds (Digitized, Deceptive, Disruptive, Dematerialize, Demonetize, Democratize) frameworks into research and teaching.
      • Manage software and hardware projects, and oversee data integration.
      • Publish peer-reviewed papers digital epidemiology and public health.
      • Prepare and develop courses/curriculum for the next generation of digital public health practitioners.
      • Teach and mentor students in digital epidemiology and public health.
      • Make public appearances at important forums in the area of digital health and disseminate research findings.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Excellent public speaking skills with a track record of public appearances at important forums in the area of digital public health and participatory surveillance.
      • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
      • Ability to secure research funding and manage research projects.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • PhD in Public Health and/or Epidemiology and/or related field required.
      • Extensive experience in the social entrepreneurship, startups, and the public sector, with specific experience in government sector and international/bi-lateral organizations.
      • Demonstrated experience working in a variety of settings, especially in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
      • A proven track record of peer-reviewed papers in digital epidemiology and public health, with an emphasis on participatory surveillance.
      • Strong knowledge and experience in product development, software and hardware project management, and data integration.
      • Proficient in machine learning and AI modeling techniques, particularly classification models and time-series forecasting models.
      • Experience with spatial modelling and GIS, including geospatial analysis.
      • Track record in fostering communities of practice in digital epidemiology and public health.
