      Job Description

      For our location in Leiden, we are looking for an enthusiastic assistant scientist to join our USP/DSP laboratory team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for carrying out the USP and DSP laboratory studies for the production of biologics. The team works on the early/late-stage development of new products and are a corner stone in the pipeline toward new medicines.
      You will be required to adhere to GMP guidelines, and your activities will include:

      • Medium preparation.
      • Assembly and disassembly of bioreactors up to 10L.
      • Upstream processing (Fermentation) of various cell lines from preculture to harvest and all associated tasks.
      • Downstream processing of samples using AKTA purification and all associated tests.
      • Documentation and data entry in batch records and ELN.
      • Pro-active communication with study directors and project teams.
      • Batch record review as required.
      • Participation in 5S lab checks.
      • Proactively working to improve processes or your working environment through continuous improvements.

      Qualifications

      • HBO (BSc)/Master degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related sciences.
      • Experience with fermentation or DSP in the lab environment is preferred.
      • Experience in a pharmaceutical environment and knowledge of GMP is preferred.
      • You are flexible and proactive.
      • You enjoy working in a team and communicate well.
      • You are accurate and have great attention to detail.
      • You can work independently.
      • You are a quick learner who strives to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
      • You are self-motivated with a positive attitude.
      • You enjoy volunteering your ideas and working on continuously improving your environment.
      • You are fluent in English (Spoken/written).
