      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

      Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Site Supervisor will assume the role of the Site Supervisor in the administration of the day-to-day program operations. The responsibilities include the supervision of: educational, health, and social service activities with the program staff parent involvement, and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulatory agencies.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      Supervise daily activities ensuring a safe, educational classroom and outdoor environment in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and standards of all regulatory agencies.

      1. Assume responsibilities, on a substitute basis, of an educational staff position as assigned by the Site Supervisor.
      2. Promote and maintain positive professional relationships with all staff, parents and the community.
      3. Act as a resource person for staff and parents.
      4. Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of necessary records of each child in the program, including relevant documentation.
      5. Assist in ensuring the timely and thorough completion of home visits, tri-yearly child assessments, monthly curriculum plans, daily and individual lesson plans, parent/teacher conferences, and child observations.
      6. Assist in ensuring the completion of all required 30, 45 & 90 day screenings.
      7. Help perform office duties as needed
      8. Help coordinate activities of parent and other volunteers in the program and on field trips.
      9. Ensure the completion of specialized screening of children as required. Work cooperatively with the Inclusion Specialist to schedule and arrange conferences.
      10. Develop and maintain good community relationships
      11. Assist in the preparation and submission of the End of the Month reports. Assist with the program bookkeeping, including in-kind documentation, purchasing, inventory and Child Care Food Program Records.
      12. Conduct observations and written yearly performance evaluations on assigned staff.
      13. Attend staff meetings, staff in-service and all other required training and meetings.
      14. Assume responsibility for parent involvement as appropriate.
      15. Attend not less than 15 clock hours of professional development per year. Such professional development shall be high-quality, sustained, intensive and classroom focused in order to have a positive and lasting impact on instruction.
      16. Work cooperatively with staff to insure that full enrollment, health records, family partnership agreements, family support activities and all office functions are maintained.
      17. Prepare emergency and earthquake preparedness plans for the center according to Community Care Licensing regulations.
      18. Ensure food service meets all regulatory requirements and assist when needed in preparing and serving the daily meals.
      19. Assist in the general hygiene needs of children.(Diapering e.g.).
      20. Ensure and assist in general clean-up, packing and storage of furniture and equipment as needed.
      21. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employee will also perform other reasonable related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Must be able to obtain a State of California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit. Good ability with Microsoft Office computer applications. One year or equivalent experience in working with preschool children in a classroom environment .

      OTHER/SPECIAL: Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to pass a physical examination and tuberculin skin test. Fingerprint clearance, criminal record, and sex offender registry check required. Ability to conduct numerous visits to clientele’s homes at various locations in San Diego’s South County Area. Verification of current driver’s license and insurance required for personal car usage.
