      Job Title: Assistant Camp Director

      Department: Camp / Program

      Reports To: Camp Director

      Summary:

      The Assistant Camp Director assists the Camp Director in the overall administration, organization, and management of the camp program. This role involves supporting the Camp Director in ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching experience for all campers and staff. The Assistant Camp Director will help oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and coordinate activities to achieve the camp's goals and objectives.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      · Program Support:

      • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of camp programs and activities.
      • Help coordinate daily schedules, special events, and activities.
      • Ensure programs align with the camp's mission, goals, and safety standards.
      · Staff Supervision and Leadership:

      • Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of camp staff.
      • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to counselors and other staff members.
      • Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate information, address concerns, and provide ongoing training.
      · Camper Well-being and Safety:

      • Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all campers.
      • Assist in managing camper behavior and enforcing camp rules and policies.
      • Address camper issues, concerns, and incidents in a timely and effective manner.
      • Implement and enforce emergency procedures and safety protocols.
      · Operational Management:

      • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the camp, including scheduling, logistics, and resource management.
      • Help manage camper registration, records, and related administrative tasks.
      • Assist in maintaining camp facilities, equipment, and supplies.
      • Coordinate with other departments, such as food service, health services, and maintenance.
      · Communication and Relations:

      • Serve as a liaison between campers, parents, and staff.
      • Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper progress, concerns, and issues.
      • Maintain positive relationships with community partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
      · Additional Responsibilities:

      • Assume the responsibilities of the Camp Director in their absence.
      • Participate in pre-camp planning, staff training, and post-camp evaluations.
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
      Qualifications:

      · Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a camp setting or with youth programs.

      · Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.

      · Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

      · Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

      · Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.

      · Knowledge of camp operations, programming, and safety procedures.

      · Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).

      Education:

      · Bachelor's degree in recreation, education, or a related field preferred.

      · Relevant certifications or training in camp management or youth development a plus.



      Working Conditions:

      · Work is performed primarily in a camp setting, which may involve outdoor activities in various weather conditions.

      · Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

      · May be required to live on-site during the camp season.

      · Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
