Education:
Master's Degree or higher in Education. Ed.S. is preferred. - Certification/Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for GAPSC Certification in Educational Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible teaching and learning experience with at least three (3) years of district office and/or administrative experience in various educational leadership roles, in K-12 public school settings. Previous supervisory experience is required. District office experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional leadership, and educational trends.
- Advanced knowledge of curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on school improvement
- Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in data analysis, assessment, and using evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes.
- Familiarity with relevant state standards, regulations, and educational policies.
- Ability to stay abreast of current educational trends and research, including instructional administration techniques and programs throughout the state and nation.
- Leadership and Strategic Planning: Collaborate with teaching and learning staff and district leaders to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and initiatives to improve teaching and learning outcomes. Provide leadership and direction to district staff and schools in alignment with district goals and priorities. Promote a culture of academic performance that aligns structures and supports which improve classroom instruction and student learning outcomes.
- Curriculum Development and Alignment: Oversee the design, evaluation, and alignment of curriculum to ensure coherence, rigor, and alignment with state standards and district objectives. Collaborate with curriculum specialists, content experts, and teachers to develop and implement high-quality instructional materials and resources.
- Instructional Leadership and Support: Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to improve instructional practices, classroom management, and student engagement. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Assessment and Data Analysis: Oversee the administration and analysis of student assessments to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and inform instructional decisions. Use data-driven insights to develop interventions, support strategies, and allocate resources effectively.
- Professional Development: Develop and implement professional development programs and initiatives to support the ongoing growth and development of educators. Provide opportunities for collaboration, reflection, and peer learning to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to build partnerships and support student success. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and promote transparency and accountability in teaching and learning initiatives.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage departmental budgets to include allocating resources effectively and advocating for funding to support teaching and learning priorities. Identify opportunities for grants, partnerships, and external resources to enhance educational programs and services.
- Research current trends regarding instructional strategies, curriculum methodology, and educational administration policies and programs.
- Keep abreast of current educational research and practices and share findings with district and school-based leaders.
- Remain current on federal and state laws and policies related to curriculum and instruction and ensure that procedures are established consistent with required compliance and legal practices.
- Provide instructional support, and teaching and learning resources and structures to deliver quality professional learning and implement a standards-based curriculum.
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- Project a positive image when dealing with the public, employees, parents and students.
- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning will play a pivotal role in advancing the educational mission of the district by serving as the instructional leader for the district. This position will be responsible for providing leadership, assistance, and supervision for the efficient operation of all aspects of the curriculum and instruction program for the district. Specific areas of responsibility include: PreK-12 curriculum and implementation, early learning initiatives, K-12 teaching and learning, educator professional development, assessment and evaluation, and signature programming, inclusive of gifted and talented education, special education, response to intervention, ESOL, CTAE, and college and career readiness. This position also provides supervision to the senior instructional leadership team, including but not limited to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
