      Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Celebrating unconventional aesthetics and embracing the philosophy that fashion is an art of expression rather than a cult of personality, Maison Margiela offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry and fragrance.
      In 2002, the French house became part of OTB. Along with sister brands of the group, Maison Margiela continues pushing the boundaries of modern fashion while preserving its distinctive identity and heritage.

      This Internship will start on September 1st

      This position supports the textile process for all collections of the Maison Margiela brand. The internship focuses on both the creative and the administrative sides of textile development and includes participation in textile design and research as well as the technical and administrative materials’ process. This position works directly with the head of fabric and print.

      Job responsibilities and activities

      This internship participates in the following areas:

      • Brainstorming and development of textiles and materials techniques including dye techniques, prints, hand manipulation and embroidery
      • Preparation of concept boards and preparation of materials milestones meetings with creative director and design teams
      • Organizing materials research and mill offerings into categories and proposals for design teams
      • Working on color story and launching collections’ colors
      • Researching print concepts

      As well as the development of materials and subsequent processes:

      • Organizing mill information for textile presentations – prices/minimums/lead times/availability
      • Preparation of materials labels/headers/materials boards
      • Organization of color stories, materials reference sets, header racks, labels etc
      • Organization of mill/textile packages
      • Organization of supplies for atelier
      • Organization and upkeep of materials archive

      Skills and experience

      • Applicants must be offiliated with a school and must have some previous experience in design or textiles or a previous internship
      • Applicants must submit both resume and portfolio or some examples of school craftmanship.
