Assistant Videographer (Part-Time/Hybrid)
Position Summary:
Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, Inc. (AILEY), one of the world’s premier dance institutions, seeks an experienced, motivated, and personable part-time Assistant Videographer. The role includes shooting and editing interviews, dance performances, rehearsals, classes, and more for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, and Ailey Extension. The position is part-time with the expectation of working an average of 20 hours per week.
The Assistant Videographer will support AILEY’s Videographer in editing short- and longform video content for various platforms from social media to YouTube and other special projects as needed. Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of dance, the ability to establish and manage deadlines, work both independently and collaboratively, and have a knowledge of and appreciation for dance.About the Organization:

A typical season includes engagements in its home base of New York City (five weeks each winter at New York City Center and two weeks each spring at the Brooklyn Academy of Music), a 20-city national tour, and extensive international touring. Annually, nearly 500,000 people experience the Company’s performances and programs.
A multifaceted organization, AILEY also encompasses Ailey II, a second company dedicated to the development of young artists and community outreach; The Ailey School, a world-class dance academy that provides instruction to a diverse group of students aged 3-25; Ailey Extension, which offers dance and fitness classes to people of all ages and levels; and Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs which provides young people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds with the opportunity to explore dance, build self-esteem, and develop life skills.
Responsibilities:
· Capturing high-quality video content
· Planning and setting up video shoots
· Editing raw footage into finished videos
· Collaborating with creative teams across the organization
· Ensuring alignment with brand guidelines
· Staying updated with industry trends
· Operating and maintaining video equipment
· Conducting interviews and capturing b-roll
· Produce 2-3 videos, weekly
· Demonstrates creativity and documented success in visual storytelling
· Experience filming dance content during performances, rehearsals, and other spaces such as outdoors
Minimum Qualifications:
· 2+ years of experience in video shooting and editing
· Strong understanding of camera operation, lighting, and audio equipment
· Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
· Ability to work independently, and as a member of a team
· Highly organized, pays close attention to detail, ability to establish objectives, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment
· Must have a flexible schedule that allows for weekday (workday/evening) and weekend filming sessions
· Knowledge of dance/performing arts strongly preferred
Start date: Immediate
Compensation: $35.00 per hour
