Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices focused on endurance, technique, and mental preparation.

Support athletes in developing proper running form, race strategy, and conditioning.

Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during all team activities, practices, and meets.

Help with organizing meet-day logistics, including transportation, equipment, and athlete coordination.

Provide individualized attention and encouragement to athletes of all skill levels.

Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and a positive team culture.

Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff.

Assist in maintaining and managing equipment and supplies.

Support academic success and character development among student-athletes.

Uphold and enforce school, district, and CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) rules and regulations.

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.

Prior experience in cross country (as an athlete or coach) strongly preferred.

Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to the full season.

Must complete required district and CHSAA certifications (including CPR/First Aid and concussion training).

Must pass all background checks and meet school district employment requirements.

The cross country season runs from August through late October/early November.

Practices are typically held after school Monday through Friday, with meets scheduled on weekdays and occasional weekends.
Fort Morgan High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cross Country Coach to support the head coach in all aspects of the high school cross country program. The ideal candidate will serve as a positive role model, demonstrating a strong work ethic, commitment to athlete development, and a passion for running and mentoring student-athletes.
