Position Description
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the fields of automotive and e-mobility engineering with an emphasis on thermal, fluid, and energy sciences. The anticipated starting date is August 21, 2024, or thereafter. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for appointment as Associate Professor, recognizing their exceptional scholarship, educational impact, and recognition within the research community.
We are seeking an outstanding scholar with a clear vision and a strategic plan to establish fundamental and highly competitive research programs related to automotive and e-mobility areas of research such as thermal management of powertrains and batteries, hydrogen or other advanced propulsion and combustion systems, and sustainable and renewable energy solutions. While we welcome applicants with expertise spanning all areas of thermal, fluid, and energy sciences with a focus on automotive and e-mobility engineering, we have a particular interest in candidates with computational backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, showcasing expertise in automotive engineering, thermal, fluid, and energy sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to our academic mission by teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in heat transfer, thermo-fluid dynamics, propulsion, thermodynamics, and renewable energy. Additionally, the selected candidate will provide mentorship to both M.S. and Ph.D. students.
