Serves as an unclassified employee pursuant to Section 3301.13 O.R.C. and performs the following educational and/or research duties:
Within the Office of Graduate Success, leads the work related to secondary supports for student pathways and partnerships:
Develops statewide plan for improvement of career advising, planning, and exploration activities.
Coordinates research for best practices of student pathway advising
Works with local and state staff to monitor progress toward accomplishing Ohio goals, strategies, and performance measures;
Coordinates statewide strategy for improving school partnerships with businesses and other community organizations
Oversees the implementation of the statewide network of regional education partnerships
Oversee the support for Business Advisory Councils, school counselors, career advising, Career Connections, and other secondary supports for student pathways
Support the implementation of state-supported technologies to implement student pathway advising, such as the OhioMeansJobs K-12 system or other state systems
Support schools to integrate advising into coursework
Collaborate with Office of Career-Technical Education staff to support implementation of Middle-School CTE coursework in relation to advising and career coaching.
Collaborates across offices and teams to formulate, develop, align, and implement policies for career advising and planning.
Works collaboratively to coordinate and implement intra and inter-agency initiatives to provide personalized learning supports for the implementation of career exploration and planning;
Work directly with Administrators of Office of Graduate Success and CTE to ensure alignment of career exploration and planning efforts with all other priorities of the agency
Provides policy interpretation and implementation to support and monitor the effectiveness of career exploration and planning for preschool through grade 12;
Works in a leadership role to provide policy, guidance, and support on statewide career exploration and planning efforts;
Assists with review, development, and implementation of legislation and policy to ensure alignment with assessments and standards legislation and other state education legislation
Collaborates with other state agencies, regional systems of support, parent and professional organizations/associations, and school district personnel to ensure technical assistance and professional development initiatives are appropriate and focused on improving results.
Within the Office of Graduate Success, supports implementation of career pathway development efforts:
Collaborates across Department offices to coordinate the development of resources and tools to align career exploration and planning efforts to the development of career pathways in schools throughout the state;
Create and update guidance and resources for the internal development of high quality professional development opportunities internally and externally;
· Ensure all learning initiatives are directly aligned to Department initiatives and priorities;
Coordinates comprehensive professional learning opportunities for district and regional level educators and leaders.
Performs other related duties as assigned:
Travels statewide for presentations, conferences, trainings and meetings;
Performs necessary HR and management duties;
Participates in other stakeholder groups and efforts necessary to align with other priorities of state or DEW.
The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location full-time, if selected.
Completion of a master’s degree in education or related field (e.g., language and literacy, reading, middle childhood, educational leadership, curriculum, or other content areas) and 3 years of experience in program oversight, leadership or educational administration which included strategic planning, policy analysis and implementation, data analysis, and managing cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Direct experience supporting policy on career advising, exploration, and planning in K-12 schools.
o Experience developing and implementing policy
o Experience developing and creating professional development aligned to state policy implementation
o Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex roles and responsibilities
o Systems thinker with creativity and strong problem-solving skills
o Strong analytical and critical thinking skills related to educational policy, implementation of instructional supports and systems, and program design
o Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills and a proven ability to build productive relationships with, and communicate complex messages to, a wide variety of stakeholders
o A strong understanding of Ohio’s educational policy and landscape
o Unwavering belief that all students can learn and achieve success in school
o Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
