  The Position:

  WBG SD is looking for an Associate Environment Artist to work with the lead environment artist, creative director, engineering, design, and art teams to bring their worlds to life. Leverage your technical expertise and passion for high quality art in this exciting ground floor opportunity.

  • Create high quality 3D environment assets including props, vegetation, structures and more that align stylistically with the game’s aesthetic

  • Create tileable textures that be used across a wide range of assets

  • Ensure that created assets meet technical and performance requirements while maintaining visual excellence

  • Work closely with vision holders to understand and execute the artistic vision for the game

  • Utilize industry-standard software like Substance Painter/Designer, Zbrush, Maya, and others to model, texture, and optimize assets for the Unreal Engine

  • Have an inherent drive for learning new skills to increase the quality and efficiency of your art

  • Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews

  Requirements:

  • A degree in Game Art or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. An outstanding portfolio that displays an extensive understanding of how to generate assets for a real time 3D engine is the most important factor

  • Must have a portfolio that shows not only artistic skill but also the ability to follow technical guidelines like proper UVs, appropriate polygonal density, and textures that are consistent with a PBR Engine

  • Relevant 2D and 3D experience – Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, etc.

  • Experience creating high polygon meshes whose detail is then baked down to final lower polygonal in-game meshes

  • Must be able to create textures that follow a Physically Based Rendering metallic/roughness material workflow

  • Must be detail oriented and put in the effort to accurately follow the prescribed guidelines for environment assets

  • Some experience implementing assets in game engines (Unreal a plus)

  • Strong understanding of composition, materials, color, form, and lighting

  • Clear, concise and transparent communicator - both written and verbal

  • Be a self-motivated team-player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Must be comfortable asking for help when needed

  • Must be able to take constructive criticism in a positive manner and use it to improve the quality of your work

  • Proven time management skills with the ability to be self-sufficient and execute in a timely manner

  • Traditional art skills and a passion for video games is a plus!

  In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skillset, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $117,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
