- Identifies key risks and the related controls within business processes and designs control test steps to address key risks.
- Assists with advisory service activities within all areas of the Company by delivering agreed upon professional services, and identifying improvement opportunities that add value to management.
- Assists with audit project planning including initial client interviews, preparation of audit planning memorandums and risk matrices.
- Executes test steps to assess operational effectiveness of key controls, providing clear and concise testing documentation for review.
- Examines activities of all areas of the Company to determine the extent of compliance with policies and procedures, and rules of regulatory agencies.
- Assists with the identification of potentially fraudulent activity by performing data analytics and through the review of contracts, invoices, public records, and social media.
- Assists with the preparation of written reports of audit results and the follow up of audit recommendations made to ensure implementation.
- Demonstrates teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members.
- Bachelor's or higher level degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (e.g. Economics, Data Analytics, etc.).
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within specified timeframe required.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
- 1 year of internal auditing, public accounting, or general accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in the refining and marketing business preferred.
- Experience using data analytic/database tools (ACL, Power Query, Power BI, ACCESS, SQL, or other querying tools) preferred.
- SAP systems experience preferred.
- At least 1 relevant professional designation preferred: CPA, CIA, CISA, and/or CFE.
