      Job Summary

      The Associate Category Merchant II works closely with our Category Merchandising team and external partners to lead assigned category responsibilities and maximize financial objectives through the management of pricing, promotion, billing/invoicing, payment reconciliation, accruals, data integrity, system integrations, and reporting.

      Job Description

      Key Competencies:

      • 1 -3 years category management experience preferably in Tobacco or cigarettes
      • Retail, Pricing & Promotion Management, Invoicing/Billing/Payment Reconciliation/Accruals
      • Microsoft Office proficiency required including Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables and other formulas) PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams; Oracle or PDI experience preferred

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Actively manage the communication of all pricing and promotional changes from the vendors to the GetGo Pricebook Team in accordance with all regulatory jurisdictions and deadlines
      • Review and approve all cigarette & tobacco promotions in the promotional engine for GetGo
      • Manage and execute all pricing and promotional changes from the vendors for Giant Eagle in both the Oracle and legacy environments in accordance with all regulatory jurisdictions and deadlines
      • Review weekly detailed financial reporting to ensure all category rebates, promotional accruals, and pricing are accurate to maintain profitability
      • Spearhead Vendor Contract billing to ensure all contractual agreements, including rebates, accruals, and exclusivity fees are reviewed in a timely manner and billed accordingly
      • Manage all billing for the Cigarette & Tobacco category for GetGo, Giant Eagle, and HBC
      • Manage all promotional invoicing and reporting for GetGo, Giant Eagle, and HBC
      • Manually accrue required promotions each week and provide them to Retail Accounting in a timely fashion.
      • Actively track all payments and accruals throughout the year to maintain the financial integrity of the category and answer inquiries from the retail and wholesale accounting teams.
      • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with vendors, stores, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax, retail banking, IT/Data Warehouse, and wholesale and retail accounting to drive profitability from all angles
      • Collaborate with all formats and channels (i.e. Supermarket, Market District, Marketplace and GetGo).
      • Support store operations for GetGo and Giant Eagle for all pricing and promotional inquiries
      • Support the Tax Team with reporting and data to comply with internal and external audits for cigarettes & tobacco
      • Manage all cigarette and tobacco retail item creation across GetGo and Giant Eagle in PDI, Oracle, and legacy systems
      • Actively manage authorizations and restrictions by jurisdiction for all cigarette & tobacco retail items
      • Support cross functional teams with weekly and monthly reporting including (but not limited to) tax, accounting, non-banner, and vendors
      • Represent this functional area of the business while collaborating on new systems and processes with a cross functional team of both internal and external stakeholders
      • Comply with all vendor contracts and agreements relative to pricing and promotions across all banners (Giant Eagle and GetGo)
      • Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws as they apply to the cigarette and tobacco category
      • Special projects as assigned
