      Description

      Location: Boston MA/Portsmouth NH preferred Will consider remote. If you are within 50 miles of the following locations: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX this will be hybrid (2 days in office).

      We are seeking an Associate Consultant, Public Relations, that will play a key role on the company’s media and public relations team and report to the Director II of Business Operations & Financial Communications. This position is in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative communications environment, and will be responsible for providing important execution support and guidance around Liberty Mutual’s public relations activities across business units, primarily the company’s commercial and personal insurance divisions.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide support on and lead on select external communications efforts across the company’s business units, targeting audiences such as top-tier, consumer, business and trade media, customers, buyers, brokers, agents, employees, and industry and business partners.
      • Partner closely with management and team to support and execute strategy that includes thought leadership, speaking and media opportunities across owned, earned and paid channels.
      • Work with key internal partners to manage and counsel on external communications opportunities to advance the company as a top property and casualty insurer.
      • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment.
      • Engage directly with media and support on the creation of all corresponding materials, including statements, press releases, talking points, strategy memos and media training elements.
      • Research and surface timely, relevant trends and media coverage.
      • Manage content on company newsroom.
      • Track and report communication plan results.
      • Collaborate with and assist in managing agency partners

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Communications or related field).
      • Minimum of 4 years relevant corporate communications experience in a corporate or agency environment. Media relations experience strongly preferred.
      • Experience in handling direct interactions with media and other external stakeholders.
      • Ability to build internal networks, carry out a strategic plan and counsel partners in a thorough, thoughtful manner.
      • Well versed in PR measurement tools
      • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
      • Proficiency in GenAI communications tools.
      • The ability to work autonomously in a matrixed organization.
      • Creative thinker with ability to identify and engage with emerging PR verticals.
      • An engaged consumer of all types of media.
      • Occasional travel may be required.

      Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
