- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements that accurately reflect the commercial and legal decisions and comply with company guidelines and preferences;
- Examine complex situations, conduct legal research and provide practical, timely and accurate legal advice to the Vestas organization;
- Draft correspondence, memoranda, and presentations.
- Work closely and effectively with the legal team and other company employees of all levels and cultures in a global organization;
- Manage external counsel as needed;
- Promote and deliver on systems, processes, guidelines and forms that increase the efficiency of legal services;
- Perform the Essential Functions listed below; and
- Perform all other responsibilities as assigned.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Word) and other legal contracting software programs;
- Effectively, accurately and concisely communicate legal concepts with outside lawyers, Vestas company lawyers, customers, and internal clients;
- Effectively and accurately draft, review, and negotiate contracts for the supply or purchase of equipment and services;
- Effectively assist the Legal Director - Onshore Transactions, North America and other Vestas company lawyers with contracting.
- J.D from an accredited law school or international equivalent, member in good standing of at least one US state bar.
- Two to five years of experience practicing law in a law firm, government agency, or corporate law department.
- Experience with confidentiality agreements
- Client service orientation.
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Solid negotiating, drafting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently subject to appropriate supervision.
- Ability to effectively influence and communicate within all levels of a global organization, as well as with external customers.
- Ability to excel in an exciting and complex work environment.
- Experience with energy, capital equipment, construction, or real estate contracts. (Preferred)
- Ability to prioritize among competing urgent matters and allocate resources for maximum impact.
General Purpose:
The Associate Corporate Counsel provides legal support for Vestas, the major global provider of wind power plant solutions, in the United States and Canada. The Associate Corporate Counsel: drafts, reviews, and supports the negotiation of onshore wind power plant sales, maintenance and other related agreements; supports senior Vestas company lawyers in legal work, interacts with global legal and business colleagues on multi-jurisdictional transactions and initiatives; and advises clients on complex transactions and interesting legal issues. This position will support Vestas’ onshore sales business unit headquartered in Portland, Oregon and other business units throughout the United States as needed. This position will report to the Legal Director – Onshore Transactions, North America.
