- Monitors and manages multiple security technologies to detect IT security incidents. Will follow operational processes and procedures to appropriately analyze, call out, and assist in remediation of critical information security incidents
- Assists with risk and vulnerability assessments across the enterprise
- Assists in Monitoring and Analyzing security intelligence generated by company security controls
- Participates in detection and response of cyber incidents, assists in recovery of operations, and assists in updating, and communicating short- and long-term organizational cybersecurity strategies and policies
- Detects and analyzes opportunistic and persistent threats
- Investigates security incidents and aids in the incident response process
- Responds to security events and security alerts
- Develops and learns tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) and lead triage, containment, and eradication of threats
- Develops and learns internal toolsets used by the Security team
- Participates in threat hunting activities and threat analysis to maintain a high degree of awareness on the current threat landscape
- Provides effective incident response, by correlating intelligence from multiple systems and security tools
- Develops and produces reports on all activities and incidents to help maintain day-to-day status
- Develops and reports on trends and provide focus and situational awareness on all issues
- Maintains and manages documentation for all related systems and create user guides and standard operating procedures
- Adheres to enterprise change management procedures and corporate security policies
- Creates detailed reports on security investigations identifying significant or suspicious security events to appropriate parties. Include latest security threat information and tie back to specific intrusion sets of nation state actors when possible
- Be On-Call as per the Team schedule
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in analyzing log files and correlating security related events
- Communicates effectively (written/verbal) with technical and non-technical audiences, possesses strong interpersonal skills, is self-motivated, and is innovative in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with various operating systems and the systems’ command lines
- Familiarity with O365 cloud environment and other 3rd party Security tools if any
- Ability to identify and solve problems effectively and efficiently using analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Basic understanding of tool development and scripting abilities
- A basic understanding of exploits, common vulnerabilities, common network work intrusion methods, various attack patterns and tactics
- Basic familiarity with Security Operation Center toolsets
- Basic background in managing and the use of different security controls
- Basic background in digital forensics for security investigations and data retention
- Basic background in data analysis for security incidents
- Experience administering multi-factor authentication systems
- Experience administering enterprise vulnerability management and security awareness solutions
- Thorough understanding of the relevant incident response steps, as well as knowledge of various security architectures and framework
ChampionX has an immediate need for an Associate Cyber Security Engineer located in The Woodlands, TX or Sugar Land, TX . This position is also open to some hybrid work.
This position requires the candidate to be motivated, self-driven and dedicated to increasing their experience/knowledge in the Cyber Security domains. The ChampionX Security team is a close-knit developing team of Cyber Security professionals, so having strong communication skills is paramount for team fluidity.
Team responsibilities include evaluating, testing, monitoring, and maintaining information security policies as well as maintaining procedures and systems. Team members ensure that security designs, controls, and procedures are aligned with information security standards and are appropriate to mitigate risk of exposure. Team members also identify security violations, determine cause, and implement procedures to prevent future incidents.
Our ideal Associate Cyber Security Engineer candidate must have a passion to apply and continually improve their skill base. This position requires team members to think critically and investigate incidents using the “5 W’s” (Who, What, When, Where and Why). The Cyber threat landscape is constantly changing. ChampionX implements new technologies to monitor and interrupt potentially dangerous software from damaging our systems due diligently.
The candidate must be adaptable and flex to an ever-changing environment. This includes the responsibility of managing and aiding in the implementation of additional tools for incident investigation, containment, and remediation efforts.
