- Planning, Strategy and School Academic Leadership:
- Lead the advancement of program activities and governance processes, and be accountable to lead the ACs and meet and exceed quality metrics such as curriculum maintenance, program design and development, program quality reviews, and curriculum changes
- Collaborate with the leadership team and other stakeholders as appropriate to help create and drive school strategy, growth and quality
- Lead the academic requirements related to school management with a focus on teaching and learning, meaningful connections with industry, delivery modality and meaningful connections with industry
- Provides leadership and direction to team that encourages and supports responsive communication, respect and teamwork
- Manage and support employees through the employment lifecycle (hiring, training, mentoring, performance development and offboarding)
- Intentional Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) focused decision making
- Demonstrate excellent employee leadership, while focusing on skill development and opportunities for advancement
- Lead the strategy of enhancement of pedagogical practices and technology enhancement in curriculum and in support of faculty development
- Lead student challenges and conflicts escalated beyond the Academic Chair, facilitate dialogue and contribute to constructive re-solutioning and follow up actions
- Coach and develop Academic Chairs (and faculty) around innovative approaches to increasing operational experience and effectiveness in support of a longer-term school vision
- Build relationships to enhance employee engagement and learners’ satisfaction in support of a culture of trust
- Contribute and lead committees and working groups in support of advancing the Academic division and SAIT in meeting priority initiatives
- Student Experience:
- Champion and support opportunities to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences throughout the School of Advanced Digital Technology
- Collaborate with other SAIT stakeholders to help catalyze and support continual improvement in the student experience across SAIT
- Manage student issues that escalate above the Academic Chair level
- Lead Academic Programming:
- Provide leadership to the Academic Chairs to support relevant programming and alignment with SAIT’s quality and curriculum processes
- Lead strategy on workforce planning for the School of Advanced Digital Technology
- Lead strategy for new program development in the School of Advanced Digital Technology
- Liaise with educational institutions and other external organizations in the development, implementation and on-going relationships surrounding articulation agreements and/or partnerships.
- Scholarly Activity Culture, Impact and Reporting:
- Support a culture of scholarly activity that centers around student learning and advances the expertise of faculty
- Lead the degree reporting requirements within the School of Business collaborating with stakeholders across SAIT
- Bachelor level credential in a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role is required with proven leadership ability
- Demonstrated academic experience, teaching, management and/or leadership skills in a post-secondary environment
- Experience with curriculum development and quality processes related to delivery of blended, f2f and online teaching/learning
- A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and engaging relationships with students, faculty, academic chairs, support staff, senior executives and industry representatives
- Excellent communications, project management and customer relations skills, able to work independently, collaboratively, and in a team environment
- Excellent change leadership, communication and influence, project management and customer relations
- Experience working with collective agreements
- Relevant Graduate degree(s) preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates with leadership experience in a post-secondary environment and curriculum development/delivery
- Prior experience working at SAIT is an asset

The Opportunity
The Academic Associate Dean position reports to the Dean and will play a key role in achieving the strategic priorities of the School for Advanced Digital Technology. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the leadership team, faculty, staff and the SAIT community to continuously improve academic and strategic processes to enhance overall effectiveness and success of the School of Advanced Digital Technology.
There are two Associate Dean positions in the school. This Associate Dean position will focus on academic excellence with responsibility to lead credit programming, program development, curriculum quality and scholarly activity. Both Associate Deans will work closely together to ensure alignment and coordination in realizing overall effectiveness and success in operational and academic excellence.
