Overview VTG is is seeking a highly qualified Associate DevOps Engineer in Manassas, VA. This position is a hybrid position with remote work options and flexible schedules. Dozens of Navy tactical systems ranging between legacy software installed on bare metal to micro-containers running in an on-premise cloud need to be delivered, installed, integrated and tested rapidly and securely. The Associate DevOps Engineer will work to automate the delivery, installation, integration, and testing of Navy tactical software. The Associate DevOps Engineer will work with a small team and will also be responsible for collaborating with a larger community of organizations and government representatives from across the country. The individual will work with limited supervision to develop and implement commercial and/or open-source solutions for inclusion in future tactical systems. This role requires an imaginative thinker and problem solver with demonstrated interest in all aspects of DevOps infrastructure. What will you do? The selected candidate will work with many small teams to develop CI/CD pipelines to automate the delivery, installation, integration, and testing of Navy tactical software. Additional work will include prototyping efforts that span a broad spectrum of computer technologies, including server, VM and container management, cybersecurity, data management, and networks. Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, and PaaS Services; Evaluate commercial and open-source products for use in CI/CD pipelines and in a PaaS; Integrate 3rd party applications; Conceive, develop, and evaluate novel engineering solutions to address the unique requirements of the maritime environment; Participate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping efforts and brief results to senior engineers; Provide and update technical documentation for all work performed. Required Skills: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology; Experience using Linux (RHEL/Centos 7 or 8); Experience with CI/CD tools, languages, and frameworks (Jenkins, Ansible, GitOps, Nexus); Experience with shell scripting languages; Experience with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, KVM, or Helm; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Initiative, innovation, and resourcefulness; US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance; Successful completion of background check. Desired Skills: Experience with Automated Testing; Experience developing software with C++ or Java; Extensive experience as a Linux administrator; Networking experience.
