What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Lead and mentor a hybrid team of data engineers, scientists, and bioinformaticians to ensure effective performance
- Co-develop robust data model architectures and scalable data pipelines for high-throughput genomic research
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to align data initiatives with organizational goals
- Manage high-impact initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment and resource optimization
- Support data governance, quality, and compliance in collaboration with IT and QA teams
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Ph.D., M.D., or Master's in Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in medical/clinical informatics, data engineering, or bioinformatics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven experience in developing and implementing medical informatics systems, including EHRs and HIEs
- Strong understanding of data standards (e.g., CDISC, OMOP, HL7, FHIR) and privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, SQL, Python/R)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Proficiency with medical informatics databases (ClinVar, HGMD, OMIM) and programming languages (Python, R, SQL)
- Experience in API development and statistical analysis methods
- Advanced analytical skills focused on creating efficient, reproducible solutions for clinical and research applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Strong knowledge of gene-disease ontologies and medical informatics software
