- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Participate in the development of new technology platforms and adapt technology as the way for business to grow.
- Ensure personal engagement and responsibility for the understanding and adherence to current and new regulations, including Uncleared Margin Reform, Benchmark Rate Reform, Volcker 2.0 and Securities Financing Regulations.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of the day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, all while in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles.
- Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
- Point of contact for clients on matters related to Uncleared Margin Reform.
- Timely negotiation of Initial Margin Eligible Collateral Schedules with in-scope entities that adhere with the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture while complying with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures
- Manage the coordinated completion of client onboarding for Initial Margin (requires working with Credit, Documentation, Financial Engineering, Legal, Onboarding, Regulatory Business Initiatives, Settlements and Operations, various subsidiaries of The Bank of Nova Scotia) with a focus on ensuring superior client experience.
- Troubleshoot operational issues that may arise relating to the posting and/or collecting of Initial Margin.
- Collaborate with GBM front office teams and internal stakeholders (including Credit, Documentation, Financial Engineering, Legal, Onboarding, Regulatory Business Initiatives, Settlements & Operations, various subsidiaries of The Bank of Nova Scotia) to support customer needs and deliver business goals.
- Manage the coordination with External Stakeholders (including The Bank of New York Mellon and other Triparty custodians) to support client needs and deliver business goals.
- Manage the coordination between internal teams and various subsidiaries of the Bank, to execute regulatory initiatives.
- Bachelor of Business Administration or Finance
- 5-10 years of experience in similar role
- Extensive industry/credit analysis experience
- Solid understanding of derivative products, lending products, sovereign (cross border) risks, deal structuring, due diligence & documentation, legal & accounting principles
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment of financial institutions
- Experience in operational change management
- Experience in managing projects
- Excellent client focus and extensive experience working with clients
- Experience managing internal relationships with business desks and senior stakeholders
