      Associate Director, Commercial Strategy & Innovation (Procurement), Ongoing opportunity

      • Flexible location – role can be based in Sydney / Bathurst / Gosford
      • Hybrid working options available and all flexible working arrangements considered including part-time and job-share
      • Salary Grade – Clerk Grade 11/12; base starting at $139,787 - $161,663 plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

      An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director, Commercial Strategy & Innovation (Procurement) to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing part of Digital.NSW within the Department of Customer Service.

      The successful candidate will have significant experience in procurement and commercial strategy and play a key role leading the procurement team that manages the Strategy & Innovation category for the agency and its customers. You will be responsible for providing strategic advice to NSWTA customers, delivering several multi-customer strategic initiatives, and managing the NSW Government’s Operational Telecommunications Equipment, Infrastructure and Services Scheme SCM0053 to ensure improved engagement, efficiency, and cost out.

      The role leads the Strategy & Innovation team in the Commercial business unit of NSW Telco Authority, reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, playing a key role as a member of the Commercial leadership team.

      In this role you will:

      • Manage and lead the procurement team of up to 6 employees with various level of capabilities and expertise to deliver efficiencies in all categories.
      • Support team implementation of category plans and sourcing strategies based on research and analysis to optimise value for money outcomes and meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
      • Candidates with category knowledge of network management, equipment support, and IT systems will be preferred, however the ability to manage and prioritise business and customer requirements will be key to the role, as will the ability to think outside of the box.
      • Activities span across procurement and contract management, and your portfolio will include a number of critical categories with a lot of visibility within the agency.
      • This role will also support the engagement of emerging technology for digital connectivity which will require you to be outcomes-focused.

      To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

      • Experience in managing and prioritising business requirements and team capacity.
      • Experience in team capability, process and systems optimisation/uplift.
      • Experience in managing relationships with business leaders to define improved ways of working.
      • Experience in managing complex tenders and contracts within a large stakeholder group.
      • Manage team compliance with the NSW Government’s defined procurement processes with capability to resolve/escalate commercial risks or the ability to quickly become familiar with the NSW Government Procurement process.
      • Proficient in managing team workload within project deadlines/budgets while delivering a high-quality result.
      • Ability to negotiate effectively with external parties and support technical SMEs to solve the technical issues/risks with suppliers.
      • You will be resilient, adaptable, collaborative and will be able to roll up your sleeves and get into the detail where needed.
      • Demonstrated ability to derive insights from data/contracts and present this data in different forms such as in reports, procurement documents or presentations with a high level of accuracy.
      • Experience or ability to develop skills to understand NSW Government Procurement Policy and Schemes e.g. Scheme SCM0053
      • Ability to provide 360 feedback to junior and senior stakeholders.
      • Good internal and external stakeholder management skills by listening and understanding their needs to solve any business or commercial/legal issues.
      • Customer centric mindset, putting customers at the centre of everything that we do.
