      We seek an experienced Associate Director of Content Strategy to help develop a robust content marketing strategy that helps to achieve the American Kidney Fund's (AKF) programmatic and fundraising goals through integrated marketing. This position will be a part of the Office of Marketing and Communications, reporting to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing as a member of the brand marketing team.

      The Associate Director will be responsible for building out AKF's content strategy that supports organizational objectives and enhances brand awareness. They will work closely with programmatic, marketing, advocacy, and development teams to gather current content insights, ensure alignment between program goals and communication strategies, and determine content gaps and recommendations for new content development.

      This position will work closely across departments and in partnership with the AKF website team and website/SEO consultants. The ideal candidate should have 3-7 years prior experience as a Content Strategist, Content Manager, or similar role and experience directing content to support fully integrated marketing – across digital and traditional channels. Experience in not-for-profit is highly desirable.


      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Drive quarterly and annual content plan development in collaboration with the broader marketing team and key stakeholders to drive key messages and priorities of the organization
      • Build and execute content strategies that support and amplify AKF's short- and long-term brand goals through a high level of user engagement
      • Develop and maintain a content library and ensure proper asset management where new and updated content is continually communicated to colleagues and stakeholders.
      • Manage AKF content calendar, ensuring timing and relevant delivery of content across all channels to support a robust and integrative marketing program.
      • Support and guide teams in how to develop high-impact channel and audience-based content plans
      • Work alongside the digital marketing team to collect content performance data that drives content marketing decisions.
      • Perform recurring content audits on AKF's programmatic content to ensure user engagement and alignment with the digital team's SEO recommendations and to identify new engagement opportunities.
      • Work alongside AKF's digital team and SEO consultants to ensure content is SEO optimized and aligned with the digital marketing team's recommendations.
      • Provide thought leadership in how to best utilize brand storytelling in a compelling way to support the fight against kidney disease on all fronts.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      The desired candidate will have 3-7 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit, with a college degree. They must have a deep understanding of using SEO insights to drive content strategy and must have experience optimizing content for search engines. Candidates should also be skilled in turning complex topics into compelling, digestible, and engaging narratives.

      Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to track and coordinate multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner. Must be well-organized with strong attention to detail; a proactive problem solver; able to work independently and within a team framework; and able to receive constructive feedback. Ability to protect confidential materials and data.

      AKF offers a hybrid work schedule with employees working in the office 1-4 days per month and telework the rest of the time.
