      Position: Associate Director, Engineering - Global Investment Banking - Energy

      Purpose

      Contributes to the overall success of the Domestic and International M&A Group within the Global Investment Banking – Energy Division located in Houston, TX USA. Ensures specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

      Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:

      • Supports U.S. and International Upstream, Midstream and Clean Technology business lines
      • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
      • Responsible for the technical and financial evaluation of oil and gas assets (including but not limited to type curve creation, geology and geophysics, reserve estimation, base and upside evaluation, risk assessment, facility constraints and requirements, creating plan of development, developing economic assumptions, and running single-well and project level economics)
      • Attend internal and external meetings supporting client coverage and generation of new business ideas
      • Lead the technical execution of both buy side and sell side pitches / mandates while providing engineering analysis, guidance, review, and mentorship to junior technical team members
      • Detailed review of any database outputs prior to use in materials to be presented to client and/or senior bankers
      • Present technical engineering materials to clients, including proposal requests, business development pitches, and management presentations
      • Writing of technical portions of the information memorandum with specific focus on both the base and upside cases in addition to overviews describing land and contracts, geology and geophysics, production, reserves, joint ventures, facilities, marketing, accounting, etc.
      • Contribute to data room preparation and review confidential materials for completeness and accuracy
      • Marketing of oil and gas assets to potential buyers as required
      • Maintain working knowledge of industry activity and trends, commodity prices, and latest developments in technology
      • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
      • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

      Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably with a petroleum specialty, or equivalent combination with work experience
      • Additional degree or experience in a geoscience field is a plus
      • Minimum 10 years of experience working in engineering in an upstream energy company or investment bank for the oil and gas industry (U.S. conventional and unconventional expertise and with exposure to international operations preferred)
      • Deep technical oil and gas reservoir experience (knowledge of multiple US conventional and unconventional assets and basins, decline curve analysis, type well review, geologic trends and inventory analysis)
      • Exposure to economic evaluation (net present value) and fiscal regimes
      • Beneficial to have exposure to oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures activity, agreements and commercial aspects of the oil and gas industry
      • Highly proficient in Enverus Prism, ARIES, PHDWIN, Spotfire
      • Strong understanding of technical oil and gas software platforms Petrel, Eclipse, ArcGIS, Wood Mackenzie and Welligence
      • FINRA licensed (Hold or obtain SIE and Series 79 and 63 licensing upon employment)
