Then consider joining the Business Affairs Finance team as our next Associate Director of Finance & Administration in support of our campus Student Unions.

      The Associate Director of Finance & Administration provides financial leadership and direction to the Arizona Student Unions, and oversees its financial functions. The incumbent is responsible for managing the Unions' budget, performing high level financial analysis & forecasting, making recommendations & guidance to leadership, and assume primary oversight of financial reporting and compliance. The incumbent ensures the University effectively manages, protects, and leverages its financial resources. The incumbent is also responsible for the implementation of accounting practices and procedures. The position exercises broad discretion and creativity as to work details on assignments of a varied, diverse and difficult nature. The Associate Director of Finance & Administration leads a team that includes 13 staff members, student workers, and manages the Student Unions' operating budget of over $55 million. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Finance & Administration and is part of the Business Affairs Finance team.

      Duties & Responsibilities

      Financial Oversight:

      • Develops and manages the annual budget and makes recommendations to the Executive Director.
      • Ensures department operates within approved budgets and university policies & procedures.
      • Evaluates opportunities to improve existing budget processes & systems.
      • Oversees financial activity of the department.
      • Establishes internal controls and backup systems.

      Financial Analysis:

      • Analyze and interpret financial data, and make recommendations on resource needs.
      • Perform financial modeling of new initiatives.
      • Prepares forecasts, cash projections, and scenario analysis.
      • Provide financial support to department short term and long term planning.
      • Improves financial analysis processes.

      Financial Reporting:

      • Provides reports to leadership on a monthly basis.
      • Lead the annual All Funds Budgeting processes.
      • Coordinates any internal or external audits.
      • Provide timely financial information to operational areas.

      Leadership & Supervision:

      • Leads, develops, mentors, and supervises the finance staff and students.
      • Fosters the team’s culture and sets management expectations.
      • Other management responsibilities include coaching, performance management/consultation, organizational design, policy construction, and process design.
      • Provide sensitive advice to leaders and staff.
      • Member of Business Affairs Finance & Administration leadership team.

      Service:

      • Active member of university financial community.
      • Attends university meetings (UBO, UFO, etc.) and serves on committees.
      • Communicates information the department and the team.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience
      • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, including 3 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Master's Degree such as MBA, Master's in Accounting, or other advanced business or related degree
      • Certifications such as CPA, MVa, FP&A or other
