- Laboratory Supply Planning and Systems: Leverage supply chain / planning experience in the creation, implementation, maintenance, and strategy of laboratory inventory (e.g. Consumables, chemicals, cells and samples) and asset management systems in support of the Takeda R&D Lab
- Team Lead: As the systems super-user provide leadership and expertise acting as the first line of support to the R&D Lab Operations teams and its scientists (training, issue resolution, S&OP alignment, inventory and budget management). Ensure high quality of service to end-users by driving continuous improvement of processes, workflows and system enhancement implementations.
- Project Management: Initiate, lead and/or support small to large projects to improve the overall effectiveness of Laboratory Supply Planning (e.g. S&OP). Responsible for providing leadership for applicable strategic and tactical laboratory supply chain initiatives.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Takeda’s R&D laboratory supply chain operations, including inventory management, procurement / order fulfillment and demand planning practices to support the enterprise laboratory inventory management system (IMS) proof of concept and initial expansion rollouts; spearhead the system and process enhancement configurations and evolve into the IMS super-user
- As the IMS super-user:
- lead the maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the lMS
- direct the IMS processes for preparation and issuance of purchase orders through receipt and reconciliation with a three-way match
- coordinate with Purchasing and Procurement functions to resolve invoice discrepancies or pricing issues
- provide training and support to end-users to ensure their effective utilization of the IMS and adherence to established processes
- oversee inventory turn data to identify slow-moving inventory, conducting appropriate cycle counting and reporting to influence Point of Use (POU) content in collaboration with R&D Lab Operations and end-users
- trend and analyze data generated to provide KPI updates and improve inventory accuracy
- Oversee IMS master data management governance, including developing procedures to:
- document stock item metadata, creation/modification, and the addition of new fields or modifications to existing fields
- handle changes in POU stock items in order to coordinate the changes with Lab Operation and end-users to ensure timely availability and uninterrupted supply
- Prepare IMS project documentation (e.g. lessons-learned, physical/system process flows, system specifications, training materials) and provide project leadership to support global expansion to additional Takeda sites
- Assist in the development of inventory budgets for the purpose of establishing acceptable inventory levels upon which internal / external performance can be measured
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design KPIs that enhance supply chain visibility, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency; support the S&OP process with KPI data
- Similar to IMS, collaborate with the cross-function team on the implementation and configuration of laboratory asset management system to support overall asset utilization and lifecycle management
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in laboratory / supply chain management and technology, and make recommendations for system enhancements
- Minimum 7 years of relevant biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry business experience required; familiarity with regulated disciplines in a laboratory setting preferred
- Undergraduate degree Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, Pharmacy, Business Management, or related discipline preferred
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSP) preferred
- Deep understanding of supply chain principles and best practices, including demand planning, inventory optimization, production planning, and logistics management; experience with an ERP based system and master data management required
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills, able to analyze complex data sets and identify optimization opportunities; Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience working within a matrix organization and demonstrated ability to work across functions and regions, at all levels where the incumbent may not have direct authority
- Experience delivering S&OP results at an executive level
- Prior experience Identifying and participating in or leading process improvement initiatives
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Requires approximately 10% travel, which may include overnight and international travel to attend meetings, other Takeda sites, external manufacturers, and other related travel.

Location and Salary Information:
Base Salary Range: $143,500 to $205,000, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.
The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
