      Associate Director, Master Data Business Analyst

      The R&D Master Data team collaborates across the whole AstraZeneca to drive innovation through improving the quality of our data products by institutionalizing Master Data centricity across organization.

      We are building the Centre of MD Excellence whose primary role is to deliver on the MDM roadmap, implementing centralized master data management across new MD domains. This is where the role of MDM Business Analyst is needed: you will be working with various cohorts of SMEs, reviewing and improving their data, assessing and re-engineering their processes so as to build the most complete and accurate master data sources managed and governed by the effective processes.

      Our mission is to support R&D users with highest quality of Master Data within the rigor of the appropriate compliance framework.

      Typical Accountabilities

      Master Data Mgmt

      Implementation of the data-centric MDM eco-system as per the agreed roadmap. For this:

      • Define and prioritise business requirements relating to Master Data capabilities using BA best-practice techniques. Provide related expertise to support internal partners with shaping their projects. Skill: Business requirements elicitation and analysis
      • Ensure the vertical traceability of requirements from top-level objectives down to executable iterations for new data content, new or enhanced processes, or new solution features. Provide strategic support to the leadership: formulating, aligning and implementing an MDM vision, roadmap. Skill: Business requirements mapping and analysis
      • Model business process of as-is and to-be states that enable efficient, scalable and sustainable master data governance routines to be developed and embedded in AZ R&D. Own, support, lead the development and instigate continuous improvement of Master Data Management processes. Skill: process mapping and process analysis
      • Apply business acumen, collaboration skills along with the subject matter expertise to effectively broker resolutions of ambitious priorities across critical data domains/critical data elements. Facilitate/be directly involved in data migration activities.
      • Ensure effective collaboration with SMEs and Information Architects to support the development of conceptual models, business glossaries and ontologies.
      • Collaborate with business partners and influence discussions to contribute to the design and implementation of data standards and quality management framework as well as the relevant metrics.
      • Facilitate Data acquisition, validation, standardization, enrichment, entity resolution

      Essential

      Please note: this is NOT either a finance role or an IT role , we are not looking for SQL/Python/R programmers, platform engineers, application and technology architects, data scientists, finance specialists. Please review carefully essential skills and experience below.

      • Manager/Expert level experience in pharmaceutical industry/biochemistry/life sciences
      • In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical/biochemistry disciplines in the area of your expertise, e.g.,
        • Regulatory, IDMP, Authorised Product
        • MDM Governance, Stewardship
        • Investigational Product
        • Drug Discovery and Development
        • Drug Manufacturing
        • PQ CMC
        • CRO management etc
      • Expert knowledge of your expertise-related Pharma/biochemistry MD domains, e.g.,
        • Pharmaceutical Product
        • Medicinal Product
        • Substances
        • Ingredients
        • Study
        • Sites/Investigators etc
      • Business Process Analysis and Design, data acquisition, profiling, cleansing. Manager/Expert-level collaboration with strategic business partners, leading virtual teams, and brokering alignment between parties of disparate priorities.

      Desirable

      • Master degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Science, Informatics, computer science, economics or related field.
      • BA qualification from either the IIBA or BCS
      • TOGAF certification.
      • DAMA certification.
      • Data Governance and Data Management education and certifications
      • Solid understanding of one of the industry best available MDM solutions – Reltio (ideal), Informatica, SAP, Oracle etc.
